Why would you start selling something without posting the measurement. If I have learned anything from this site it is measurements.

Thanks to Wmax!

I was curious about this as well and tried to find measurements for other subs. After looking around at some other websites and I did not see measurements. I think SVS has measurements for their subs on the website but that's it. Even the big companies like Paradigm don't post any graphs with measurements for their subs.

Are they posted in another section of the website that I am missing.

Just a lurker who is trying to learn more and curious.

Thanks

aside from looking a manufactures measurements, you need to be looking at credible 3rd party measurements, ie Ikka, Tom Nousaine, Audioholics. While some maufactures provide descent spec, most do not.

That's what I thought. People are always saying they want to see measurements for new subs but i can find very few manufacturers that post graphs. It must be that they have been tested by independent testers in the past.

In the last Epik rev, outdoor FR graphs were shown on the product pages. They really don't tell you much other than how the sub behaves at moderate volumes with no reflections. In room measurements from users from the Empire are room dependent, but the one's I've seen show that the sub is capable into the midteens, as advertised.

Personally, I think the reason the Empire's graph isn't up is that it exhibits a hump in the midbass and rolloff below 30hz, which is fine for a sealed design, but might make some hesitate in buying if they don't think they'll acheive the desired extention in their room.

Does that mean that measurements are over-rated? If outdoor FR don't tell you much and in room are room dependent, what would you go by Ron?

Interesting take on the lack of graph for the Empire. Is this just a guess or do you have something to base it on? Just curious.

It's just a guess based on what I've seen with the ED sealed 18 measurements and the Submersive measurements. If the Empire mirrors these rolloffs and based on how it's described, I think it does, there should be a rolloff below 30hz. Coupled with room gain, most won't see it before 20hz or even lower, but some will. There's nothing wrong with this. My opinion as to why he hasn't posted a graph is totally a guess, but I really doubt that Chad doesn't have the measurements. As I stated, I've seen a few REW user graphs. Some are getting extention down into the low teens, especially with duals. Others are still trying to find the best placement for the sub. However, I don't doubt that 15hz is achievable for most with this sub.

I think Ron's saying that they didn't push the sub hard enough to get any useful data. Not that measurements are over-rated. Measurements are all we have to objectively evaluate a sub by.

Yeah, I didn't address this part of the question. The nominal FR response is somewhat useful, especially if the sub maintains it when pushed, but unless a 3rd party does the full regimen ala AVtalk or the way Ilkka used to...it's pretty minimal. SVS does the same thing (posting nominal FR graphs), but most of their earlier models have gone through the wringer and we pretty much know how they behave.
