That is a bummer for sure
That is probably what Epson will claim, but the receiver was working before the Epson arrived....... I'd have to agree with what I read from Clint, in that I would agree that it is probably a receiver malfunction as opposed to something caused by the epson. I can't wait to read what you turn up in your investigation, I know I'd be bugging Denon until something was replaced.
Yeah, hopefully the damge is not too extensive...hopefully just superficial.Bummer, Gene. I grok your pain. I hope you find resolution, and soon.
Want a nice pair of Aerial 7Bs to go with that Denon?![]()
If Denon is exchanging your 05 for a mkII even-steven, I'd say that says a lot for Denon's customer service. Particularly for immediate service, and before the culprit has been found. Score one for Denon!!! Denon separates? You mean they'll allow you to trade up? Or are you really going to spend $14,000.00? Or... Does that mean this offer would be extended to us lesser beings? In any event, Denon offered to upgrade my 5805 to a mkii.
My feelings EXACTLY!that sucks.
cough use the cough denon separates cough
No it doesn't - Gene is a reviewer, lol.If Denon is exchanging your 05 for a mkII even-steven, I'd say that says a lot for Denon's customer service.
Yeah, but it didn't burst into flames and shut down component video in the process... OK, that's a slight exaggeration... lol.I do note at our 2007 SOTU event a Sherwood Newcastle processor had a handshaking issue with the Epson projector but I think this problem is more related to an HDCP issue.
I would say that without knowing what happened, the whole thing is perplexing. It does occur to me, however, that a unit that converts from one form of video to another must have circuitry connecting them, and consequently a fault originating in one could possibly affect the other. Or does the Denon 5805 not do that with component and HDMI? Then again, just hooking up a type of video, even if not in use, could result in a problem if the connected device had a fault that sent an electrical signal to it that it could not handle....The only perplexing thing to me is why component video has completely failed. ...
I was going to say, they want to appear as noble to you guys as possible. I wonder if other Denon customers get better treatment if they have the higher end Denon stuff though. I imagine they handle a typical customer with a 5800 series receiver differently than one that has their cheapest DVD player. No it doesn't - Gene is a reviewer, lol.
Gee, Clint; that's a lot of LOL. Just who is it that signs your AH paycheck? No it doesn't - Gene is a reviewer, lol.

Well seeing how I rarely purchase the products I review, I have 2 more receivers on the test bed that I can test your theory out on. But I will measure them before I risk blowing out their video portsAgain, I recommend having a technician look into what each piece of equipment is doing to try to figure out what is going on. You don't want to get a new Denon only to have it destroyed by the Epson, right? So you need to be sure that the Epson is not creating a serious problem before you hook it up to another expensive receiver. Unless, of course, you get freebies all the time, being a reviewer, in which case you can trash a lot of equipment with impunity.
Actually my wife signs all of our paychecksGee, Clint; that's a lot of LOL. Just who is it that signs your AH paycheck?
