Hi guys,

yesterday I finally got my new amp ( EMOTIVA UPA-7 ), so now I'll be able to feed all the 7 channels simultaneously. It's damn heavy just like a tank!

I'll install it during the weekend and I believe there's gonna be a considerable improvement over my 2 channel Samson Servo 300 amp though.

Shall keep you posted ;)

Regards, Chuck

After reading up the manual, I'm wondering why they do recommend to power up the amp. directly to a wall outlet, rather than into a power strip.

Any specific reason why??

The Emo along with most other amps have protection built in.

Greg nailed it...most amps have their own protection so you don't need a conditioner or strip.....

also some strips could be current limiting for the amp.

Would you prefer watching TV through blinds? I didn't think so.

In the same way your Amp demands direct access to your power grid.:)

Got it; thanks!

By Saturday I'll be installing my new toy though ( I might need a forklift as well... it's really darn heavy, but that's a good sign ) :D

Guys,

got some free time yesterday afternoon, so I decided to install the new amp. myself and I did it, believe me or not. Damn, my back is still hurting, though

Well, truth is that I've been pretty much rewarded with a new sound :)
It's amazing how the system sounds now, specially in regard to the dynamics - powerful, clean and crisp sound overall.

I never had a multichannel amp. before and matter of fact I was thinking to buy a 3 channel amp from Emotiva, but found out the UPA-7 at the very same price, so now I got all I always wanted in terms of power, indeed.

The amp. itself is built like a tank and gets barely warm to the touch. Matter of fact, yesterday I watched 3 concerts in a row and was blown away by its performance. My Denon 2809 gets warmer than the amp., believe me or not.

The only "minus" I found was the power cord, if compared to the same cord from the Samson Servo A 300, which is thicker, 13a rated (the Emo is 10a rated though) and one foot longer, so I kept the Samson cord to feed the amp. in lieu of the original one. BTW, they're both from the same manufacturer (same part no. as well).

Bottom line is that I'm pretty much happy with my new purchase though :D

Will post some pictures soon.

Regards, Chuck

I have the Ironmaster Quick-Lock dumbell set (and expansion set). I like them. I got mine about two and a half years ago, and I'm guessing that they worked out the kinks in them that my set has. For example, I had to figure out an exact order and orientation to stack the plates in order to get the threaded endplates to lock. The locking is all based on length of the plates, and the manufacturing tolerances must have been lose enough that some plates couldn't be used together. Anyway, I like that the endplates are flat so that I can rest them on my legs before/after using them. Okay, I haven't used them for about two years, but I used to like that... :D

Yep, my Emo was about the coolest running amp I have ever used. I sometimes wondered if it was really even doing anything.
