New House, New Room, Odd Speaker Placement

We just moved into our new house. The plan was to have the seating centered in front of the fireplace. We prewired front and back. When we got in, the seating wouldn't work. It didn't allow passage to the kitchen and the angle was too high to put the plasma over the mantle. We didn't like it.

So we added the cherry console table and put the plasma on a stand on top. The components are hidden behind the center area and an IR relay is built-in.

Moving the TV is not an option. Floorstanding is not an option. The TV is about 12" from the wall behind it. I would want the center above the TV but not on a shelf. What mount would I use?

Here's a pano of the entire room:

How about something like this?

ARTISON Portrait

The Portrait Series currently consists of two models: an LCR and a surround. The LCR ($1,500/pair) is particularly interesting in its handling of the center channel, which is usually a major logistical headache in a plasma system. Rather than forcing an awkward mounting above or below the screen, Artison has eliminated the physical center-speaker cabinet altogether and incorporated a dual-mono center-channel design into the LCR models. This means that each LCR has two independent driver complements, each of which consists of a 4.5-inch Kevlar midbass driver and a 1-inch soft-dome Vifa tweeter. One driver complement handles front-channel duties, while the other handles center-channel duties. Each has its own binding posts and requires its own input. Supplied cables link the center-channel posts on the two LCRs so that only one center-channel signal is required from the amp

hmm, I've never seen the Artisan before. They look promising.

However, I am very comfortable with the Klipsch sound. I've never heard the Artisan. I'm still leaning to 3-Klipsch RVX42's, two RS-42's and 10 or 12 sub.

The center RVX42 can mount on a small articulating mount designed for small LCD's. Since the TV front is 12" from the back wall, add in the depth of the speaker and the mount and it should line up perfectly to the front face. I can slide the TV forward on the table too if needed (I probably will to get the L/R speakers out of the recessed area)

You will find something that works just make sure you pull that flowered wall paper off the kitchen wall before you turn on your stereo...hehehehe

What about having a custom cabinet made that can house the center channel in the middle-top location and either have that open or hidden behind a screen-type material? Then no mounting is necessary. Just a thought.
