@ gene

That looks like the one I bought.

BTW, love the site. Thanks for all the efforts by you and your team. I've been visiting almost daily for over a year now. Finally had an opportunity to provide some info that wasn't already here.

Is the the surround version everyone is buying? I don't see DVD-A marked on it and it only has some of the tracks in DTS/DD 5.1

If not, please provide a link to a place that sells the DVD-A version in the USA. thanks.

Darn, you've got me worried. I emailed Cduniverse after filling my order and asked that they make sure they send me the cd+DVD-A version and received a reply that they would.

This is what I ordered:
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7031707&style=music&cart=320968994&BAB=M

It seems the item code is the same as this:

http://www.amusicdirect.com/products/detail.asp?sku=CREP49976

and this:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFSM2111954&catid=20993

Damn, I'll be mad if it's not DVD-A - the others were so good!

Guess I'll soon find out.

They do appear to be the same, Except for the fact you got your's alot cheaper than me (Damn you;) ).
It just doesn't seem likely that they would release three different versions.

The one from CD Universe is the CD + DVD-Audio. I got mine just today. I haven't listened to it yet though.

Thank you Mitch57, I shall be able to sleep tonight :)

BTW - many DVD-A's have DD and/or DTS versions included, I wonder if this is confusing for some of these on-line music store webmasters

Got my 2-disc set from Amazon (DVD-A and redbook CD). As a SD fan from the first, I liked this one better than the last 2 efforts. Sound on the Hi-Rez version was excellent (I'll rip the redbook CD to my MP3 player), but nothing really compares to their older stuff, IMHO.
Of course, that's just my opinion...I could be wrong.

Sure, shokhead, I realize that. Just consider, though, that the lead guitarist on the last 2 SD releases is the same guy. Quite frankly, since Fagen does all the singing on pretty much all SD stuff, what's missing? The absence of Becker doesn't seem to be particularly obvious on this CD. Same sound, same style. I like this one better than the last SD, but that's just my opinion:) .

Damn I didn't realize they were releasing this in DVD-A and I just bought the CD :( Regardless, this CD rocks and I think the sound quality is very good.

My favorite track right now is H Gang. This CD has a very similar feel to Nightfly IMO.
Ordered mine from Walmart online. Had the best price overall. Order was processed and shipped within 24hrs and I should have it by the weekend. Right at $22 bills shipped for cd/dvda set. Cheaper than BB or CC as well as Amazon. Can't wait to pump it through my cdc750, BA7120, BAvr's.

Just FYI, the disc on Amazon (as in the one that I bought) that includes the CD and surround release has a DVD-A only. There is no DTS on the CD, only the high-rez DVD-A material.

Finally got my special edition copy of Morph The Cat. It is a 96/24 DVD-A in both 5.1 and stereo and although it claims DD and DTS surround versions on the cover etc, there is none. However, it does have a seperate bonus redbook CD version.

I thought with all the rave reviews and hype that I was to be in for a big let-down, but just on one listen (in DVD-A 5.1) I have to say this is one excellent album. His best? Too soon to tell - albums either grow on you or become a bit mundane after several listens - though I get the feeling it will become one of my all time favourites. So far my pick tracks are 'What I do' 'Security Joan' and 'Mary Shut The Garden Door' all good bluesy songs. My least favorite (but still good) is 'The Night Belongs To Mum.'

Great instrumental interludes and good deep bass lines are synonymous with Fagan and/or the Dan and this does not disappoint. And Elliot Scheiner does another great surround mix (as usual). Highly recommended.

Not many from the Land Of Oz here. I know people in Glenorchy (Tasmania), as well as Sydney and Diglum. Welcome aboard mate! (I know, it's been half a year...nonetheless).

I finally got around to ordering this cd/DVD-A this morning, along with the 5.1 version of A Valid Path. The weekend's not even here yet and I'm already looking forward to next week!! :)

I can't figure out why "The Night Belongs to Mona" is so unpopular. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album. That said, my taste in Fagen's music is probably different than the others who have posted. I tend to favor more melodic vocal lines, dense harmonies, and interesting, progressing chord changes. Some of the songs that I think exhibit this well are:

Deacon Blues
The Night Belongs to Mona
The Great Pagoda of Funn
On the Dunes
Snowbound
Maxine
IGY

And others. I do love the rippin' guitar and other elements, but I favor the jazzier (is that even a word?) stuff more. For those of you who disliked "The Night Belongs to Mona", what exactly makes you dislike it?

I only got to hear 2 new tunes the other night; Mary Shut......... and Brite Nitegown. :( I was disappointed, even on the 7th row. I wanted to hear the title track and thought I'd certainly hear H-gang. Only Snowbound from Kamikiriad. The rest were from Nightfly and the Steely Dan catalog with one cover.

(did i post this in this thread already?)

Yeah, Fagen only played What I Do and Brite Nitegown when I saw him in Detroit. The concert also included the following:

Green Flower Street
New Frontier
The Nightfly
Snowbound
The Goodbye Look
Black Cow
Home at Last
Third World Man
Misery and the Blues (cover)
FM
Pretzel Logic
Viva Viva Rock 'n Roll (cover)
