I was saving for the CM7s and now I see they're coming out with a new set. The bass and center channel is louder, apparently.

look to spend your money on another sub if you can;) The center would be about the same efficeny, so unless the drivers/crossover are reworked, should be close.

Nice looking speakers. $1250 for that center channel...woah. Too rich for me.

I agree with Scott on the sub. At least, audition it first. I know that my B&W sub (ASW1000) is older and not the same design, but my SVS just absolutely crushes it.

I understand, but at least this one is WTMW. I don't know how many choices with this design there are among the varying brands at this price (a lot of them are even more money). I think AV123 makes one that is more affordable. Then again, these are msrp, and not necessarily street.

That's a sharp looking set. No holes to put in grilles? Does the CM line typically come withOUT grilles?

I just looked at BWs site . . . it appears so. That's a first one for me. Any other speaker lines like that?

I go back and forth between getting something like these (at least the fronts), but I could instead get the svs 5.1 budget system (since I currenty am rocking a htib - I know, I know) . Maybe even a 2.1 or 2.0. Would SVS be good for that? I have a lot of vinyl that I like to listen to but also would like a solid home theater. I have a 50" plasma mounted on the wall and an Oppo, so there's a start to this whole process, but it's a journey.....

What should I update next then? I did replace the sony htib receiver with a pioneer that has component switching (which I use for hd dvr, wii and oppo) and have dvi from htpc to tv hdmi card. The receiver was only about $200 and isn't very loud.

Any input would be appreciated. I've been to Myer Emco and listened to some B&Ws and really liked what I heard (Opeth - Ghost Reveries). I also would try an online site like svs or av123 and don't mind waiting since I have a lot of research to do.

If you like the B&Ws and have the cash, then I'd say go that route. If you're thinking SVS, I'd say look into their MTS-01 line of speakers, too. They're more in line price wise with those B&Ws.

I am not sure I like the newer look of them. I do love me some B&W though...:D

Wow... Here's my take on the SVS MTS-01 vs B&W. If you want the bang for buck sound quality/performance ratio, SVS MTS-01 may win out. However, there is a powerful consideration to take when it comes to speakers: aesthetics.

That B&W is sexy, beautiful, and sonically sweet. If I was saving, I'd buy the B&W. However, with any system purchase, I agree about the subwoofer, never buy the system sub, always buy separate sub, which can be mated with any speaker system.

wow.. B&W is just out of my league at the moment, can't argue with Abbey Road.

Just read that they have a gloss black finish. Interesting, considering the earlier CM series didn't have black at all.

My experience with the FST midrange has always been very pleasing. It is very transparent, especially in the 800 seies speakers.

The grilles are attached with magnets. I auditioned some about a week ago. The cabinets on the cm series are super nice. I listened to the new 6 series,cm's and 7 series. I prefered the cm's,although the 683 had more bass.
The 703 and 704 were a little on the bright side for me.
