I currently have Yamaha 2600 and want more hdmi, hd radio, and not sure about having internet connection.

System currently is Behringer dcx 2496, 2 EP 2500 amps, Phase Teatro speakers with kappa 12 sub.

I am looking at changing main speakers to ascend's.

I am looking for suggestions.

I was hoping to spend less than $1000.
With the amps that I currently have only need to drive the center and surrounds.

HD radio is not nessecary, just thought it would be nice.

Does anyone own the Marantz SR 8002?
I am wondering about the 2 hdmi outs, is it possible to watch one movie on two displays at same time?
Or would I have to have 2 hdmi inputs to display on 2 hdmi outs?

I don't think you can do that with SR8002, but if you have 2 sources, one could go through the AVR, the other direct to the second monitor. There are several ways to get internet radio to the SR8002 (several blu-ray options do it, Seagate HD theater and others like it). HD radio is a bonus on the SR8002 and works great. The romote include with the SR8002 is not for the faint of heart, it's complex to figure out.

I have a question, if a receiver has 2 hdmi outs, and you cant watch two monitors at same time, how is it meant to be used?

I have htpc as well, right now I cannot go from watching netflix to surfing & listening to radio at same time without running hdmi from pc to tv.
Is this possible with newer models?

About 2 HDMI outputs, if like me, you have a projector and a tv in the room, the 2 outputs are perfect for such a set up. I don't use the projector most of the time other than football or movies, I send everything else to the TV.

Before the marantz SR8002, I was using an 8 year old pioneer elite base model (VSX-41), while no slouch, the Marantz SQ is amazing and better accross the board than the Pio, which I think is maybe due mostly to the Audesy setup.

Cheers.

The deal killer for the 8002 was 1.3 hdmi-everything else was right there, the remote looked better than the rest.

I believe that I now have it narrowed down to the Onkyo 808 & 1008.
Neither have HD radio, but not sure how great that would be for me right now as there are only 3 stations in my area.

The only differences are two extra powered channels and the extra monitor out on the 1008. my computer has the ability to do multiple monitors and I have 2 external amps now, so as long as I can assign channels to amplify on the 808, this should make my decision.

With network capabilities on the the new receivers, has anyone tried to control the receiver with iphone or similar wifi devices with aps yet?

I thought I had it all figured out.....

Onkyo 808 and the 1008 do NOT have 12 volt trigger for zone one, to turn on my two amps and crossover via the panamax.

So now I am back to the drawing board....
I would need hdmi 1.4, zone 2 (at least), network ability(future wifi remote), burr brown dac & of course 12 volt trigger for zone one.

Nice to have would include the abilty to assign amplifiers, hd radio, multiple hdmi outs, ability to listen to radio and surf the web on htpc.

With my requrements, I have only found the yamaha rx-a X000 line to fit the bill.

I am overlooking any AV receivers?
Would the 105 watt A1000 be enough wattage for all but the mains?
With the mains being powered by EP2500 after DCX2496, how will that work with the ypao?
I believe that A1000 has the ability to turn off amps that are not being used?

I think that the wifi remote is going to be the way of the future.
I do like the 3311ci, but from the yamaha rx-a1000 has the extra hdmi out for seperate room, with of course the sacerfice of the tuner....

Did you do alot of shopping before pulling the trigger on your 3311ci?

Are there any shortcomings of the 3311ci?

Have you played at all with the assignable amps yet ?

My previous AVR was on Onkyo 805 which i really liked, but you know how "upgrade-itis" is. :D I was thinking about the 808 but figured i'd try something new. Another AVR I was looking at was the Marantz 7005 but the difference in price made picking the Denon an easy choice.

I really havent played with the assignable amp feature. I have Cinenova Grande 5 amp powering the speakers.

Have you had any hdmi issues with your 3311ci?

What speakers do you use, if I might ask?

I found the receiver for cheap on website, if not certified Denon dealer, will the warranty be voided??

Not sure about the warranty thing??

I did have a little bit of an HDMI issue. I would loose the video sync after a few minutes of use. I ended up using the HDMI 2 out (the non ARC output) and have not had a single problem since then.

Here's a link to my setup:

Ok, so I guess I have no life, stayed up most of Friday night on computer, trying to figure out the best receiver and speakers for me......

My final decision is the Denon 3311....but still thinking about the 4311.
I will call the store when they are open and order the 3311ci, to make sure that I still get the 3 year warranty.

The 4311 is one bad mofo! :) I think if I had the extra coin i would have picked it up instead. I really like Audessey XT32 and it's true dual sub EQ and also the "preamp" mode feature. :)
