New 12" SVS ISD driver

Not to further derail the topic, but SVS has their premium finish enclosures built in China, not the US.

I hope the new NSD driver hasn't given up sound quality just to achieve a few more dB of output. It frankly amazes me to see expensive drivers using a stamped basket. I can buy a set of <$300 Paradigms that use cast baskets, I fail to see why other manufacturers cannot do this. That is not picking specifically on SVS, but speaker companies in general.

That is not a stamped basket. That is a cast aluminum basket that looks to be similar to those used on the Ascendant Arsenal drivers. It is anything but a cheap compromise.

EDIT: I now see the lower end one uses a stamped basket. That one isn't too pretty.

I didn't say that. I said whatever I was buying and both were equal or close in price and quality I would buy USA. I'm a Union ironworker so I tend to pay more and buy things from Europe ,North America or any country that pays there workers. All my/MOST of my furiture is USA made . All things I can buy are. Yes cars, electronis ect.. you can't find 100% but I still shop. I make a fair wage I don't shop at places that under pay there workers use slave labor if I can. I will pay more cuz I have it. So many thing want to be outsourced alot of ppl lose good jobs. I'm lucky my work ppl don't want and you can't outsource. JMO

SVS has been plagued in the past with production delays due to certain parts not being available. I applaud their effort to eliminate one of those variables.

What the driver looks like has nothing to do with OVERALL subwoofer performance.

Tom V: This is our "entry" level driver...and it has >20mm of clean stroke(xmax) each way now.
