Squishman Audioholic Samurai Jul 1, 2017 2,557 0 38 66 Oct 1, 2021 #1 So the new season of Ozark comes on I think next Friday so I signed back up with Netflix tonight (a week early). I chose the middle option around $13. The top option was around $17. My Onkyo AVR with NF on says I am getting PCM! What the....?! So I switched over to Amazon Prime and shows were coming in on DD. It seems that in order to get a primo audio signal with NF, you have to pay for the premium service. Can anyone confirm this? Reactions: snakeeyes

It says nothing about audio.

Because you are getting PCM from your TV, you can select Dolby Surround or DTS Neural:X processing in the Onkyo. Pressing the info button on the Onkyo remote control, is it showing two channel PCM or Multi channel PCM when watching Netflix?

Not every app from every TV or device supports dolby digital 5.1 on Netflix or some other services. If you like the Android experience, look into the Nvidia Shield Pro. It is a killer streaming machine and does it all. Get the 4K plan and don’t cut that nice TV short. Reactions: lovinthehd

lovinthehd Audioholic Jedi Sep 11, 2012 44,872 0 113 Oakridge, OR Oct 1, 2021 #12 FWIW I use a non-4k device but still get multich audio (Amazon Fire Stick, pre 4k). You'd probably do better with apps in external devices in the long run.... Odd that your tv gets multich audio from Amazon Prime app but not Netflix, but that's where I think Treb may be onto something that you might need the extra $4 service for your tv app. Sure isn't much info on Netflix page about audio.... We downgraded from the premier version since we didn’t need all the screens so why bother. I also found out that since I don’t use a 4K display, NF won’t use the Atmos track on shows that have it. Vudu does the same thing. But still. I use NF in one room with my dish network receiver and I get 5.1 streams. In two other systems I use a Sony x700 and another Sony bd player. I get 5.1 streams there too. For these reasons I wish they never even put apps in the damn tv. I’d get a streamer. Best new EVER tho is Ozark S3 is almost here. Been waaaaaaaiting for evuuur. Squishman Audioholic Samurai Jul 1, 2017 2,557 0 38 66 Oct 1, 2021 #15 I just turned on NF with my bedroom HT with a TCL TV and Yamaha avr and I am getting a DD signal. HDMI lit in red. Not so on my living room system. With that info, does it seems like the $4 upgrade would not do it. Looks like I suppose I could watch Ozark on the bedroom system. It is a nice 5.2.2 system with Heresy III's. Good to know I need a device if I ever settle on more NF. Tonight, I could even find anything to watch anyway!

Squishman Audioholic Samurai Jul 1, 2017 2,557 0 38 66 Oct 1, 2021 #18 I upgraded to the $18 plan. Didn't change the audio unfortunately. Thx for the help. Looks like I need the device..... if I decide to go back to NF on a more permanent basis. At the moment, it's only for Ozark. ha. And "Dead to Me" whenever the new season happens to hit.
