Need suggestions on isolating earbuds for 12YO

I want to get my daughter a set of isolating earbuds for reducing noise on rail and plane.
She only listens to her ipod (which holds low-fi itunes downloads), so it is better that the buds not do too good of a job.
So, it needs to be small (or have a small earplug option).
And between the low quality itunes downloads and the abuse of a preteen, it doesn't make sense to put too much $$$ into them, about $25 max.

Thanks,
Kurt

To get any isolation you're probably going to have to move up from buds to in ear monitors (aka ear canal monitor) although they can be uncomfortable if they aren't fitted right. I can't really tell you what sounds good in the $20 price range - mine sell for like $400. But you might check out Headphone.com. They're a retailer with surprisingly accurate and unbiased reviews. The Sennheiser CX300 that they suggest for those with small ear canals can be found for $25.

Just go get some inexpensive skullcandy earphones, they come with 3 different sized ear pieces.

I recently purchased a pair of these (well, actually the updated version, CX300 II), but they're still in the mail, so I can't comment from experience, but these were exactly what I was going to suggest as well. I have fairly small ear canals (though probably not 12y.o. girl small), so that influenced my decision.

These are also not deeply inserting, which is not as good for isolation, but less likely to result in really bad comfort issues.

I bought a set of v moda gunmetal blacks for $14.99 on ebay recently. They are pretty good for their price.

Etyomics Research has a low cost 6i with real noise isolation.

Try the Koss 'Spark Plug' it's about $15 and does a good job of isolating. Nothing fancy, but it seems to be what you need.
