Anyone remember the old D&M holding TSC - the speaker company? This site was pretty positive on their value proposition, and I think one of editors installed them in a parent's home.

When they went out of business a few years ago, I jumped on a smoking deal and picked up a couple pairs of their 8" in-ceiling units. Fast forward to now, and I'm considering installing them in a kitchen remodel.

When I first got them, I was thinking basement, garage, etc. so I wasn't too critical. So, now I'm wondering if their up for the job of servicing a much-used area of the house. Also wondering if people with TSC find thy are still working...

I know many will say try it, replace them if you're not happy. But if I were planning from scratch, I think I'd get 6" speakers so they would match the can lights I'm putting in. Putting these in will force me to go with 8" holes and lock me in to that size.

Other details - 16' by 29' kitchen/ eating room - planning four total ceiling speaker installed at 1/3 points of the 7.5' ceiling.

Thanks for the advice.

Unless one does not damage the speakers by using wrong amp, rubber surround dries or any direct physical damage - I can't see why ANY speaker would not last for a VERY long time.

(almost forgot about potentially drying of cap in crossover, but it's typically 20 plus years thing)

and BTW: I still love my TSC's :)
