Hi everyone, so I'm building my first surround system, which contains the Pioneer VSX 1123 receiver and the Pioneer SP-PK52FS.
I connected the 2 front speakers and to the av receiver and there is no sound coming out of them.
The receiver displays what I'm playing from my iPhone, but there is just no sound at all. The manual says that the receiver could just work with 2 front speakers, so I don't have to plug the other devices at least till I get what isn't working. I'm using an 18 gauge wire. Please help!

Welcome to the forum!

Did you run the MCAAC auto setup routine, yet? If not, I recommend that you do that. It's possible that the issue is the iPhone connection and not the speaker connection. When you run MCAAC, it will first do a speaker check, and you'll then be able to tell if the speakers are connected correctly. MCAAC will also configure it for two speakers and do a room calibration.

You really just can't hook stuff up and hope for the best. The manual tells you how to hook things up and it also walks you through how to check connections. Instead of using your MP3 player, why not use the INTERNAL speaker levels testing of the receiver? The receiver itself will play white noise to the speakers. Each speaker can be checked individually. Likewise, you want to be sure to have any speakers which are not connected turned 'OFF' in the receiver so that it isn't trying to send your audio to speakers which aren't even there. 18 gauge wire is pretty skinny but wouldn't prevent audio from getting to the speakers if you have it hooked up correctly.
