I've got some new twr front speakers in. DefTech bp 7006. :p
One of the twrs is bad, no sound. In the Denon test setup the speaker
doesnt test proper (a deep thud sound instead of the whip sound).
and no sound comes out for movies. The speaker seems to be bad, going to exchange.

The other speaker seems to be working.
It has a 300w 8" sub driver. Because, these were togather in stock where puchased I want to make sure that nothing is wrong with the 2nd speaker.

It is putting out some sound but, I'm not sure about the sub. It doesn't seem
that the sub is pushing a lot of bass, but being a newbee I not sure whats normal.
How can I test this speaker and the sub to make sure it doing what it suppose to?
Is there any DVD or Music CD that I can get to test it with?
  :)

Not sure how specific you’re looking to get in your testing procedures. There are downloads available for specific frequencies or small incrementally stepped frequency ranges, don’t know where they’re located though. Others should be able to help with this. One popular test disc that has 1/3 octave increments over the full range comes from Rives Audio. There are also the Digital Video Essentials and AVIA calibration discs that can help with audio and video.

One way to initially test the speaker’s powered (sub)woofer section is to connect it to the receiver’s sub pre-out and run the receiver’s test tone for the sub. To start, you’ll want make sure the sub’s channel level is set to 0dB in the receiver, and you’ll want to adjust the sub/speaker amp’s volume gain to the 9-12 o’clock position. This won’t tell you exactly how low it will go, but it will let you know what to expect.

RE:test

Thanks, I'll try to do the sub test. I talked with deftech support and the thud is the sub trying to initialize. They told me to box it up and send it back. The purchase location told me the same thing. No reflection on DefTech, it can happen to the best of electronics.

ALso, is there a good movie or sound track I can buy that is known as a good
dvd to test the system?
I may check into some the Audioholics product test links to see what they used.
Just to be safe and since these speakers were in the same location (in stock), I may send both back and get new ones from the factory.
Just the one twr playing produced fantastic sounds. Cant wait till the whole system is ready.

Good news, The Store Rep. is drop shipping me a new Twr straight from the factory. I'll test the 2nd speaker against the new.
Then I'll start building the sub box.
The store so far has excellent custormer service.

The next item on the list, A blue ray DVD player! :D
