I'm a newbie here.

I plan to buy this Yamaha Hometheatre from Bestbuy for my son who is in college. It seems it's in lowest price ever. Is this good enough for him? The price seems good but it's 5.1... Any comments will be appreciated.:)

Electronics has a habit of breaking way before the warranty expires or well after (many years ) after the warranty expires. If the system sounds pleasing enough, I would go with the Best Buy option. As you can tell, I'm not a fan of aftwermarket warranties and see little value added by them. If you really concerned, by two of at the Best Buy price and squirrel the other one away until the first one breaks.

I suggest you look at the speaker company

120

70

100

about 290 total. For a very nice system.
This would be a far superior system sound wise for a very nice price. That company is very much tied to this forum and we have many satisfied customers along with the company owner as contributors. He's extremely helpful, honest and hardworking.

Shipping is free!

Just so you know those are only speakers in both the yamaha and The speaker company package.

http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONLTXSR304BLK/Onkyo/TX-SR304-5.1-Channel-Home-Theater-Receiver-BLACK/1.html

would be a perfect match for the system receiver wise.

The Speaker Company is budget audiophile quality with a great reputation and free 30 day trial period.

I really hope you go the way I suggest I think both you and your son will enjoy the excellent quality and price.

Just a couple of questions. Exactly how is TSC "very much tied" to this forum. Do they have an ownership stake? Are they site sponsors or have they simply made themselves available for a peer to peer marketing campaign? It's one thing to recommend a product but another entirely to suggest that TSC is in any way tied to Audioholics in any other than a sponsor/contributor sense.

Also, who is the owner. Last time I checked, TSC's corporate headquarters was the same address as D&M Holdings, a global conglomerate of audio brands. I thought we had determined that TSC was an internet only spin off of Boston Acoustics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am not of the understanding that TSC is the product of some hard-working, entrepreneurial owner that spends his time on audio forums every day.

I'm not saying anything about the speakers themselves. I've never seen or heard them, but this soft sell/hard sell approach to recommending TSC seems a little bit "off" to me.

Isn't Nick51 the boss hog there.

He's on here from time to time and they seem to be a big advertiser, but maybe that's my way of seeing it.

:)

I'm sure the people at tSc work hard. They have nice speakers for a good price. :)

Though I think the OP may end up getting the Behringer 2030p. Since it's a son sound comes first.
