I feel you. Any chance you could tell me a little bit about classic d vs class a a/b? I used to run sundown audio class d monoblocks for my subwoofers in my car a year or two back. But in home theater speakers? Just need a little info on what would be BEST for the speakers I would be running.
Best? The one you like the most with the power and features you want? Lots of good class D out there, even ATI has some. Might check out the amp reviews at audiosciencereview.com, see how those class D modules from Hypex & Purifi stand among various amps.

I just received (not too long ago) 5 each Hypex NC400 and the SMPS600s to pair with them for 5 "monoblocks" worth of power. I'm trying to figure out the Chassis to put them in.
This is one route. Very simple and straight forward to build out these Amp modules. They are supposed to be supremely clean in terms of Power delivery, and have a very high SINAD or low-distornion. Some may say Class D has a sound, but until I hear it, I cannot believe.
ATI uses N-Core NC500 (OEM) Modules on their Class D Amps. Along with Apollon and Nord, they all use additional Input Buffers in addition to the power supplies.
At the most simplistic level, as I am by no means an expert, the Class D amps are supposed to be the most efficient in terms of power delivery, as well as having a clean sound.

Beyond that... I cannot express my satisfaction with the Outlaw Monoblocks enough.

I did not buy the Hypex gear to necessarily replace the Outlaw. I am studying Speaker design and need high quality portable power as I'll be researching, working and testing in different locations. Also, I may find I need 2 Ohm-stable power while I work through designs.
Moving multiple 25# amps to test speakers is not something I want to spend my days doing! ;)
