All I know is that I want a pair of Axiom m3 v2's for my room, but I don't know what else I need to buy to work them or how to even set them up, can someone please help me!

My budget will probably be $500-$1000 since I am a poor college student lol . My goal is just music for parties and just relaxing. And my other goal is to have really detailed sound and just loud enough so I don't get the cops called on me My roomsize will be about 15x10 feet. My current setup: the speakers that are built into my laptop lol. Sanity: none, lol. jk. The main thing I want to find out is what I need and what each part of a system does/where it is supposed to be plugged into, etc. Like I know theres the a/v receiver and the amp/preamp, but what is the difference and what is their function? And I know theres bookshelf speakers, subwoofers, centers, etc. But will I just be ok if I get the $300 axiom m3 v2 bookshelf speakers or should I just get a much cheaper HTiB system? You should be able to find a suitable receiver in the $300 range. From there, your upgrade path is wide open. You can add a subwoofer whenever you are ready, then add a center channel and surrounds. At that time, you may want to buy larger speakers for your mains and move the original bookshelf speakers to use as surrounds. The upgrading can take place over the span of years depending your circumstances but it all gets started with just a simple receiver and a set of speakers.
