NAD vs Denon, Onkyo etc.

You're right that it would cost a fortune to send down there for warranty repair... Not only that, I'd be risking damage in shipment... I even suggested that they ship the part to the US dealer, then that dealer send it up to the Canadian dealer and I'd pay the labor costs (cheaper for me than shipping costs anyway... and safer)... NO GO!!

We're not talking about some massive company that is handcuffed by bureaucracy, it's just a company that doesn't respect its customers or support their own product. At the end of the day, I shouldn't be having to jump through hoops and find creative alternatives for them to fix their broken product. Heck, even with GM skirting the lines of bankruptcy, if my Cadillac needs servicing when I'm in the US... I go to any dealer and they take care of it!
That's nice how you tentatively left out that it was purchased in the US and brought to Canada. I can understand not expecting them to void your warranty, I don't think it should come as a huge surprise that they don't honor your warranty after they tell you about it though. I also understand why this would upset you, however I don't agree this is a direct reflection of their customer service and it would be a rare occurance for other NAD owners.

For the record I'm not a fan of NAD's products, but I think it's in poor taste to leave out the important detail of why they didn't honor your warranty. Without that information one may assume that NAD may not honor their warranty for an unreasonable or no reason at all. Do you think that is fair?

Denon, Nad and onkyo are all a matter of taste and it is fully neccessary for anyone interested in a receiver to go and listen with your speakers and see if you like. All three of them sound different.
When operated within their limits a discernable difference would be difficult to impossible to find minus the affects from auto calibration and proprietary DSP modes.

Actually all three of them sound the same in Direct Mode so it is all a matter of taste as to which features, warranties, customer services, and aesthetics you want.

This does not pertain to this thread. I am brand new. But can check an impedance or two or calculate at standard volume box for a speaker cab.

Now I have blown more spears with my 100 watt stereo Onkyo receiver than I have with any guitar amp in my life over 45 years in bands.

So the Onkyo's seem to develop a square wave signal when driven hard.

Has anyone else noticed this.

Thanks for your thinking about this delem.
