I'm absolutely certain that Nad has more power if both it and the Denon were equally benchmarked. Nad has always been crazy conservative on their power ratings. My reservations are the seemingly lack of full 7.1.4, only 5.1.2, at least that's what Crutchfield says, but lovin says otherwise. Also, a buggy AVR will drive you to drinking.
And I am absolutely sure you are not correct, based on specs and past bench tests data I have seen on Denon and NAD AVR. The Denon in the same price range will be the clear winner in output, including dyn output and 4 ohm load output. It will mean a dB or 2 so moot point either way.

Oh, I could be wrong for sure! Can you send me a link on said benchmarks?

Sure, tomorrow, fishing at the moment. I love my tiny NAD integrated, just don't believe their watts mean more than d&m watts, just because of their effective marketing info.

Greetings,

I need a new A/V Receiver, as my 15 yr. old Sony has lost a Channel, I believe ( one of my wall-mounted Bose cube speakers is not producing any sound ). I also need a new TV for the room. Inputs into the receiver include a cable tv box, blue-ray player & vcr. I want to keep the cube speakers - what do you think of an NAD T-758 as a new receiver?

Thanks!

DSD
DENON have excellent power output compared to NAD, ARCAM, and ANTHEM units that cost MORE.

If you can still get the Denon X3300 for $599 or especially X4300 for $799, I would get those.

A DENON at almost HALF the price of the NAD has about the same power output as the NAD.

A $1.5K DENON (you can get for $800 NEW) has MORE power output than a $1.6K NAD.

A DENON that you can get every year brand new for $800 has about the same power output as a $2K ANTHEM.

A $2.5K DENON has MORE power output than the $6K ARCAM.

Definite PROOF that DENON have excellent power output compared to NAD, ARCAM, and ANTHEM units that cost MORE.

And all have more power than most setups need. It's really a features play and different features appeal to different situations.

I definitely agree.

It all comes down to features and price.

Thank you for beating me to it. You listed the output into 8 ohms, the Denon models linked also did better in the output into 4 ohms. Once you get down below 4 ohms, the NAD equivalent models would likely win in their so called dynamic output ratings, for very short duration. I know it is theoretical and on the bench only, but Denon did show lower distortions and better noise figures as well.

ADTG did it for me, so please read his post. The only thing I might add is that in a British bench test lab (AVtech Miller Audio, link posted before) website, you can find the tests on the 43.7 lbs NAD T765 and the 39.2lbs Denon AVR-3808 of the same year. You will see that Denon did quite a bit better in the vital areas of frequency response, continuous output into 8 and 4 ohms, and most importantly, output impedance, cross talks, SN (weighted and unweighted), and distortions at 1W. The NAD did better in dynamic output into 4 and 2 ohms (much better), but only at elevated levels. In fact, at <=0.1% distortions, the Denon was still ahead in the 4 and 2 ohm load tests.

The Denon (both the AVR3805 and 3808) were tested down to 1 ohm and passed, the NAD was not tested for 1 ohm. In those tests, the two Denon passed all tests, the NAD failed 4 tests with an overall rating of "Failed".
