NAD or Cambridge Audio

Hello,

I have any opportunity to purchase a NAD C541 or a Cambridge Audio D500SE for about the same price. Which would you recommend? The player will be used for a 2 channel set up, mostly Jazz.

I appreciate hearing what you all think of these players. Is there anything I should consider other than these two players for entry level audiophile equipment?

Thanks

You might also want to look at the offering from Onix. I'm not sure if it oversamples like the NAD though. Are you looking for speakers and stuff too? AV123 has a super deal going on right now where you can get a tube integrated amp, a pair of nice bookshelves, and the above mentioned CD player for $1500. Here's the link. The thrid option in the pull-down menu is the deal I'm talking about. Here's a link to the speakers in the combo.

Jaxvon,

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not in the market for speakers, though I have heard many good things about the Onix speakers. I already have an Onix Amp, the 120 MKII integrated amp; I really like the sound and it has endless power :)

To go along with jaxvon's Onix recommendation there is a new Onix XCD-99 coming out really soon, not sure on pricing but a little more than the XCD-88 sales for. There also will be a Onix CD-2 coming out which will replace the CD-1 and appears to have a price of $999.

In my view, the difference between these two is that the NAD delivers more detail than the Cambridge, but the Cambridge somehow manages to keep it all together as one whole (The Big Picture) a bit better than the NAD.

In terms of build, I feel the NAD is more solidly made, but I must stress this is subjective. Could be the NAD is simply nearer to my views of how it should be done, which in no way denies alternative approaches.

Between the two, I'd go for the NAD.

Cheers,
