The volume "lag" isn't that at all! I've had an M10 for 2 years as of this very day and love it.

What took a little time to adjust to is that the volume control is not like others. Though they say it's "linear", I refer to it as being "logarithmic." As you go up, it get louder faster. Get near the top and it will blow my eardrums out.

I use mine controlling it with either the desktop BluOS app or the mobile app on my tablet or phone. I love it, and the sound quality is incredible. I have had ZERO problems or issues with it. OK, there was one update they did with the firmware that put the display into a "light" mode that I hated. The complaints poured in and the issued another update to fix it within days.

Been fine since.
I'm specifically talking about having it connected to an AppleTV, I'm sure it works as normal by itself/streaming.

These kind of issues is exactly why the only Apple products in our home are the tasty ones we can eat. ;)

The volume adjustment descript you have is 'Linear' - they are right - so you get that 'louder faster' at the bottom end of the 'pot' travel. This is why 'log pots' or better DSP/Digipot coding is used (linear volume level coding is simpler and it operates faster - logs often have to do a lot of number crunching with floating points - but not always). Regardless, I'm pleased you think the sound is great - I have the Hypex nCore OEM on my desk - ready for a spin!

Actually, on an M10 I don't know how the volume is changed internally. There's no visible potentiometers, just a visual touchscreen graphic that you swipe clockwise for more volume or anticlockwise for less.

So the volume will either be done using DSP or a Digital Potentiometer (digipot) - the latter is normally linear because the log digipots are very expensive, and to 'fudge' it with code, makes the steps audible if you move the control fast (maybe that's why there is a lag?). I'm surprised they didn't make it logarithmic e.g. half distance/turn/swipe = half volume and so on. However, there is no such thing as a logarithmic hardware pot either - that's fudged too (you can get close with a little design effort).

M10 hooked up and it will be staying. A few thoughts:
–Setup was very easy. Up and going within 10 min of unboxing
-Roon working perfectly. Album song display is nice
-Dirac has a nice affect in this room
-Plenty of power
-Sounds very good
-For factor is perfect a living room.
-Using ARC works fine so far. There is a little lag but not bad. Volume is a little bit inconsistent in how many db’s it goes up, but not a deal breaker. And this is an ARC Issue, not really an “apple” issue. Volume works the same weather we are using apple or dish. After a bit of reading, NAD seems to encourage people not to use ARC, but use optical connection from the TV. M10 can also be used with an IR remote as well. Or you can use the Bluos app to do the volume/switch inputs. IR remote/app does not have the lag etc.
Very nice device if looking for a compact, nice looking, nice sounding device with very good room correction.

I like your summary. For me, with no need for Roon (the BluOS app does everything I need), no HDMI inputs, and no need for ARC, it's been totally a pleasure to use and enjoy.

ARC seems to be hit or miss. Good news like you say is it isn't necessary. It will run quicker/smoother avoiding it. So far it works good enough, but if any issues happen will just switch it to optical out of the tv.

Actually Z Reviews (YouTube) had the same issue with a 3rd party remote as well using no ARC. Definitely a M10 issue and why NAD would offer ARC knowing it doesn't work well sounds odd for this price.

Haven’t tried it with an infrared remote yet as it hasn’t bothered me enough to matter yet. I agree at this price that shouldn’t be an issue and can see how it might bug some. If I get around to it and decide to not use arc and switch to optic out of the tv I’ll be sure to post my results.
