Shame on you all - SheepStar is the only one that "gets" the reference to "World Police" - or is that because he's in Canada & isn't exposed to the same censorship & brainwashing as seen south of the border....?!

rolski: It's that very "censorship & brainwashing" that makes people like me tolerate people like you. I'm just kidding (don't forget I'm brainwashed).

A tip for future reference: When you see [Edit: family forum... - Admin], what do you think of? Appararently, only brainwashed people can decipher that one. Let me help you. Sheep did not write that post; what Sheep wrote was deleted and overwritten by an Administrator. The funny thing is, it was done for your benefit.

Let me state for the record that I firmly believe both you and Sheep have much to offer here. We just need to keep it civil.

rolski: It's also interesting to note that almost all of your gear comes from "west of the border." Both TAG McLaren and Bowers and Wilkins products are made in the UK ("west of the border"), whereas your Sony is made in Japan ("south of the border"), as your post indicates that you are in Cologne, Germany.

If the US did not have the "censorship and brainwashing" you speak of, rather than wining and dining on liebfraumilch and wienerschnitzel and viewing your fair countryside on a beautiful autumn evening, I submit you might very well be drinking swill and eating porridge while staring down those natzi bastards we rid your country of nearly 61 years ago. I make the assumption that you are a pure aryan, not the muckety-muck Hitler was "cleansing" the world of, or we very well might not be having this correspondence.

My point is this. Next time you want to slam the US, please do not be so indirect and cowardly by using the gentile verbiage of "south of the border." Just come out and say the US. I like to know where people stand.

But it's the very intolerance you espouse when using those words, that we in America do our best to tolerate. It is a crime to forsake the name of Mohammad in Iraq, as well as other parts of the mideast. A man is currently being tried as an infidel in Iraq for converting to Christianity. Countless Chinese are currently being indefinitely detained, or executed, for crimes against the state, or simply for being a "common criminal", if you know what that term means in China. Some things should not, and cannot, be tolerated.

So the next time you want to express some of your intolerance from the safety and serenity of your veranda in Cologne, Germany, that we in the US helped to make so, please use it sparingly, and above all, accurately.

Let me state....
JohnD, your comments are noted - but I believe that my post was entirely in the spirit of this thread - which is within the Steam Vent - and I can guess with 100% certainty what SheepStar wrote & why it was removed. I would also bet, therefore, that you haven't seen the particular movie to which we're referring....
I have no problem with this particular "Admin edit" as my post was not referring to the "edit"....!
I also appreciate that some people are offended by things that others find funny & that if there wasn't a degree of control in the world then it would lead to Anarchy. Or perhaps a Korean pre-emptive strike, or even worse, world-domination by BOSE....:p

Note to myself (and perhaps cc'd to SheepStar) : Remember - our sense of humour is slightly different to theirs....

Now, back to the Koreans !

rolski: I like humor. Really. In fact, I like to think I have a healthy dose of it. I will read your posts with humor. And please forgive me for my seriousness...this is the steam vent, and I'm just venting. Cheers. How's that for humor? I know, I know, I'm working on it.

Oh, and by the way, I'm 100% English.
Double oh, and a [TEXT REMOVED by me - shouldn't post info like this - "self censorship" !] in Afghanistan.

Assumptions can sometimes be wrong....

Back to the Koreans now, please ?!

ADDED :-
Have just seen your reply - so Vent / Rant over - let's shake hands like grown-up Audioholics & get back to the subject-in-hand.
Has anyone bothered to close those Indian reactors since they were opened....?:p

N. Korea is NOT a major threat the the US

A pain in the *** for sure, but a nuke threat??? Do you realize the type of Nukes N. Korea has compared to America or the all important delivery systems?

Right now N. Korea has a missile that will reach the West Coast of the US. Their nukes are not in the same class as Americas. Nukes come in all different forms from battlefield nukes which are small artillery shells to our ICBS that carry MULTIPLE WARHEADS. A typical American ICBM can carry 32 thermonuclear capable of hitting 32 different targets and every one of these warheads is many, many times more powerful than anything N. Korea has.

The most lethal weapon that mankind has ever known is an American boomer class submarine. Each submarine carries enough warheads to destroy a major part of the planet Earth and this submarine cannot be detected. Submarines go out on 6 month deployments and for 6 months they sneak around the world oceans just off the coast, just waiting for the order. There is not one single country in the world too far inland that one of our subs cannot hit it with multiple warheads. If an enemy took out every single one of Americas ICBM silos and every strategic bomber we had we would still have enough nukes to blow up the ENTIRE world many times from currently deployed subs which are ALWAYS armed to the teeth and ALWAYS patrolling and stationed in various oceans throughout the world.

North Korea has a few single warhead "Hiroshima" types of bombs, fission bombs where as the United States had multiple warhead THERMONUCLEAR Weapons. North Koreas does not have bombers that can reach our country and they are not capable of in-flight refueling so they could never reach us that way. They have a few old diesel subs that cannot be fitted with Nukes and are VERY easy to detect anyway.

It would be no contest; our radar would pick up the launch of a N. Korean missile heading towards our West Coast and we even stand a chance of knocking it out of the sky before it would hit and before this happened N. Korea would no longer be a country. We have plenty of nukes sitting in South Korea right now; everything from "tactical" nukes to take out swarms of charging N. Koreans across the DMZ to Strategic weapons that would take out the entire country.

The Drunken Idiot sitting pretty in N. Korea while his people are starving knows this very well.

What worries me more than N. Korea is Iran; we are sitting around while the EU who has taken the lead in controlling Iran's Nukes plays grabass and gets absolutely nothing done. Allowing a country run by Islamic fanatics who hate infidels and who feel killing them is their duty is a recipe for disaster. I have no doubt that a nuke will again be used against another country in my lifetime and I have no doubts that it will happen in the Middle East.

Some of these piss-*** countries think that if they get a Nuke this will make them a powerful country and puts them on the same playing field as America; they could not be more wrong. No other country in the world has nuclear powered subs with this kind of firepower, not even close.

What about Japan?

Both Hiroshima and Nagasaki are flourishing cities today and even though they were “nuked” not all Japanese died. Many more people were killed during the Firebombing of Tokyo a few weeks before the A-bomb was dropped; a third of a the entire city was destroyed on that single raid.

The days of the two Superpowers with a finger on the button ready to send hundreds of ICBM's into the air & destroying the world for good are over, thank God. What we will see is an exchange of these "little" nukes; and they are only considered "little" when you are no where arround!

That's it in a nutshell. While your diatribe makes a good read, and I did read the entire post, the one thing that stands out in your post is that phrase: It would be no contest.

Those of you who put nuclear war in the same realm as conventional warfare have really not given this topic much thought. The sheer threat of a nuclear war is sobering for those in the know. There is no need to get into submarine deployment, muliple warheads, ICBM's, or any of that other exciting stuff. What do you think India, Pakistan, China, Russia (and all of the satellite nations that spawned from the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Ukraine, Belarus, etc.), France, etc. are going to be doing as we "toast" North Korea. Sending us thank you letters?

The very thought of a nuclear war is a scary proposition, because all the seven+ countries have to do is start pushing buttons, and it's all over. Period. Russia and America have a total of about 26,000 nuclear warheads (that's right, 26,000...enough to blow up the entire world a couple of hundred times, and that's a mere 1/3 of what the two of us had back during the 80's buildup), whereas the rest of the civilized world have about 1,000.

To talk of nuclear war in terms of capabilities, and how well Hiroshima and Nagasaki have since flourished, is not only irresponsible, but downright delusional.

Just wait until Al Qaida starts substituting grenade launchers for "little" nukes. You'll see more than helicoptors being blown out of the sky. They'll figure some way to strap these on themselves rather than target them.

Anyway, wish you hadn't brought that old subject up - you'll start JohnD off on a rant (uh oh, too late I see....) - and so far that's been a lot scarier than anything the Koreans have dared show us....

Russia and America have a total of about 26,000 nuclear warheads

Exactly, but one of those key players is no longer in the picture; care to guess?

Nuking another country because they nuked you first would not cause a chain reaction and cause every country with a nuke to use it; that makes absoultly no sence!

Of the two countries that had the arsenals to actually blow up the entire world on of them is no longer a player and the days of a REAL THREAT of thousands of ICBM's flying through the air and total destruction to the world ARE OVER.

All of these other countries that have nukes, India and Pakistan and Israel, do not have enough weapons to "blow up the earth" like you are talking about even if every single one of them fired their entire arsenal at once!

All nukes are not the same, period. Only the Soviet Union, which is NO MORE, and the US ever had this capability in the first place.

Eventually some Middle Eastern country will nuke one it's neighboors, most likely Israel. Israel will retaliate and both countries will have their issues, but they will NOT be wipped off the face of the earth because they DO NOT HAVE THE KIND OF WEAPONS TO DO IT! Other countries will not be affected and everyone with a nuke will not shoot if off because Iran did!

The most N. Korea could do to use would be to hit a single American city on the West Coast, period. N. Korea does not and NEVER WILL posses the ammount or types of weapons to start the kind of world distruction you are talking about.

Atomic weapons like the Soviet Union had and America has counter-balanced the threat of nuclear war because both knew that if they used them on the other country their country would also be eliminated and this is why we never used them, period. This is what created the Arms Race and this is what bankrupted the Soviet Union and why they are no longer arround.

You cannot compare India or Pakistan or Iran to the United States or Soviet Union; what they have for weapons are nothing more than firecrackers compared to what we and the Soviets had. They DO NOT HAVE THE FIREPOWER TO WIPE OUT THE WORLD!
