My Yamaha RXA1050 will not show DD anymore. (Dolby Digital)

WELL, after MANY MANY tries and lots of help from forum members (my thanks for the help) it came down to 1 setting on the Yamaha. Found it by trying one thing at a time. It came down to the info button on the remote to change the decoder back to DD from decoder off!

I’m sorry to have put forum members thru this but sure appreciate all the help.

Roger, your very welcome! Genes site to me is the very best at helping out. The old timers on here are as good as there is on the net. Speaking for myself I have decades in his hobby but in no way am I as technical as most of the old timers in here I’ve learned a lot from these guys and believe me they have cut me a lot of Slack with my antics. So with that said I’m happy your issue was a very simple fix believe me when I say we All have made mistakes with this hobby that cost lots of money.

Maybe you can share your experience with your new Emotiva amp. Was it pretty much plug and play? Or did you have to do anything special to eliminate hum or anything? Curious to add an amp to my Yamaha 2060 soon.

I know on my CX-A5100 I had to use the Remote control and click the Info button and it toggled to show the actual surround formats (DD, DD+, DTS, DTS-HD MA, TrueHD).
I told you about the INFO button on the 15th Post of this thread! :D

But I think Yamaha should do away with this function. Just make it standard on the LCD to show the actual sound format.

My wish list for Yamaha:

1. Default/Standard Surround Sound Format (DTS/DD, etc.) on the LCD without having to mess with the INFO button on the Remote!

2. Get rid of some more legacy old inputs/outputs

3. Get rid of 90% of all the DSPs (keep the Dolby Surround Decoder for 2Ch movie source).

4. YPAO sucks, but since I don't care for any room EQ, no worries here. :D

5. LESS is MORE PURE. :D

LOL glad you figured it out. I can think of a few times with my older gear one of my roommates would flip a tape monitor switch on either my eq or receiver and would take me a while to figure out what happened...
