Luckily these speakers are module
I'd imagine that removing the six (sub?)woofers from the lower box would alsoreduce weight significantly, since you're going to do it anyways for the review.

To be honest Gene, I'm not digging the veneer choice.

To each their own.... I love it.... In fact, I was actually thinking of using that exact same ebony veneer for my XLERATORS, but abandoned the idea as it was a bit too aggressive and overstated for my room....

Either way - Looking forward to hearing the results, although - I've never read a review that this company's speakers are nothing but awesome, I'd really like to hear something like these myself - to get me past the idea that its all hype

If they're not gloss cherry or mahogany red, I don't want them.

But I'll take them if you force me. :D

I love the veneer as well. I'm pretty sure Grant likes the ugliest veneer Funky Waves or Salk have to offer, so his tastes are a little off :D

So is there truth to the rumor that the first person to respond to Gene's post wins the pair he is auditioning? No? Well, it was worth a shot. On a lighter, completely unrelated note, I heard a pair of Salk speakers this week, wow was that an experience. Incredible sound, very impressed. Of course they were drived by a BMC amp and source was a Oppo that had a completely rebuilt analog section with seperate power supply. So seriously, on those speakers, did I win?
Which Salk's?

Gene,

Are these officially the most expensive pair of speakers that Audioholics has (will) review? :)

Salk speakers

You know I thought they were HT2-TL but they did not have a port near the base. They did have that Raal tweeter though, which did not sound like any aluminum/silk i've ever heard. I still have not heard a Berrylium tweeter, can anyone compare the sound for me?

I believe so. Harman offered me some Revel Salon 2s for review but I think those are $20k/pair. I may review those down the road but these RBH's are gonna consume me for 2-3 months so I don't want to take on two huge speaker systems at once. I tend to shy away from big heavy speaker reviews b/c of dealing with bringing them up a flight of steps. If all goes well, and the RBH's perform as expected, these will be the speakers I take to my grave

I have both - the Salk SoundScape M7's with RAAL and the Paradigm Sigs with Be tweeter....

The RAAL puts all the information out there without seeming as its anywhere near bright or heavy handed, they are easier on the ears with nothing missing, delicate, intricate, softer I guess.... I'm not very good at these descriptions....

The Be in the Sig S8's is very clean and clear excellent on the symbols and triangle / bells type instruments with very good dispersion, but its def a bit brighter then the ribbon... extremely revealing, almost to a fault, but not overbearing like a horn, much softer. Closest metal dome I have heard that comes close to a ribbon. I tend to turn the treble down on the Sigs to get close to the RAAL's, and that helps quite a bit...

My room is still quite bright, and I'm sure if I had more high band absorption that would help a good deal, but thats not going to happen.

I do still like the Be in the Sigs quite a bit.... But I prefer the RAAL.
When I first got the Salks, I was used to the Sigs so much that I thought the tweeters were just not giving me everything.... as though something was missing, but as I got more and more time with them it was the Sigs that were the problem... Not awful, but certainly more bright....

Obviously these traits will be different in every room.... still have to listen to them side by side in the same room...

The woofers can be removed and that may be an option.

BTW I was mistaken, the initial pic I posted on this thread was of their prototype. Attached is a pic of the actual speakers they are building for me at this moment. The finish is more like what I had with my T30s.

I do like that grain a lot but the color just doesn't quite do it for me!

my taste is better than your taste!

....I like the original veneer better

Haha thank you sir, and your complaining about those speakers. Each of my 3 dual opposed LMSs are @ 300lbs :D
The specs page of the 8Ts say they are 314lbs - plus he's got to bring them upstairs :D

I think that is total weight of the sub + satellite speaker. So luckily their modular and are assembled as a whole piece once you figure where to place them. I'd guess the sub still weighs around 200lbs
