Well, after a month of crappy weather, they 'broke ground' on my new house last week. So far only the blocks have been set and footers poured. Foundation should be complete by the end of the week.
This is largely a DIY house; my father-in-law is a contractor and is the contractor for this build. I've helped him in the past lay tile, hardwood, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. This time, I'll finally be doing it for
my own house. We expect to be finished in May. We are planning to sell it in about 2 years; we will probably build a couple more times so that our 3rd/4th house will be paid in full. That's the beauty of having a badass father in law.
A few specs are:
1.033 Acres
3600sqft
500sqft bonus room for my HT setup
22x20 garage
10x10 workshop attached to garage
The rest are just details as I only care about the stinking garage. I've not had a garage in 2 years and I CAN'T WAIT to finally have one!
We've already managed to stay $8k under our budget for the build. This weekend alone we saved $2800 on brick and about $500 on tile thanks to a local clearance sale. We buy store demos from Lowe's and ordered our lighting online. Hopefully the woman will let me put that money toward the media room.
I've already started mapping out the HT room (think 4 IB 15's manifolded into the room). I'll eventually start posting build pics in a thread in the member's gallery. I just wanted to share my excitement a few pics with you guys.
