double windows fuggin' rock. I wasn't too sure about it but I rolled with it. And very happy I did. The garage is MUCH bigger than I realized it was going to be. Can't wait until the second floor gets framed and I get to walk the HT room. Now that the framing is getting progressed, I actually have a feel for things now. I'm very excited about this. :D

Looks pretty sweet. I've built two houses so far. I don't think we'll be moving again for awhile, but I still get the itch every now and again. I think it'll probably take 4-5 houses before I figure out what the hell I'm doing and more importantly, what I actually like.

Looking forward to more progress pics, as I'm sure you are looking forward to taking them!

Small update without pics (and a minor rant)…

Framing is near complete. The upstairs is friggin awesome. I have a 17x24x8’ HT room now which worked out better than I had planned… except for a few things and I’d like some input.

Well, now I’m not sure I’m wanting to do a FP or RP LED DLP. And, I’m not too sure right now that I even want to finish this movie room up.

We’re wiring for both for a selling point at the least. I’ve already ordered wallplates, and some of the wiring.
I may not even go through with this… we keep finding things we want to spend money on for the house (underground electric fence in the front yard for the dogs, new mower, 4wheeler, etc). I’m just starting to weigh things. I don’t want to invest $3-5k into a room that won’t see much use. My wife is surprisingly opposite; she’s all for this room. Though, she would rather have a large RP DLP, but she’s basing that on the crappy projectors we’ve seen at BB & CC. I try explaining that the FP we go with would be MUCH nicer than the picture quality of those, but it’s something that needs to be seen.

I’ve also got to figure out how I want to set this stuff up if I go through with it. Something I hadn’t considered about our A/V closet is IR. Our closet is hidden now by two layers of drywall and facing the other direction.. no longer in a line of sight for a remote. So, I need to figure out htf I’m going to control this stuff. I’m not sure, but maybe an IR repeater would work?
If that can be solved, then a lot of my worries disappear. Of course, there’s still the issue of the IB wall location, but that’s just going to happen when I make a decision.

In short, I’m already finding things I’ll want to change for my next house and we’ve only just completed framing. Though, this movie room is turning out better than I had planned on layout, it’s giving me some issues in planning and what I thought I was going to be able to do. I think most of it is just me feeling overwhelmed by everything I have to think about regarding how we’re going to wire up the house. It’s just a lot to take on and these guys are steamrolling this project. I thought I’d have more time in between phases but due to the subs having no other jobs, they’re flying through our house.

Good news is we’re coming out way under budget on everything. And this house is friggin huge. I seriously cannot wait to get moved in. I found out there’s a pond about 2 miles from us through the woods. I just started thinking of all the fun me and the girls (wife and dogs) can have fun making trips out there on a 4-wheeler and fishing and letting the dogs swim. I grew up out in the country, so I’m looking forward to moving back out to the country.

*I'll get pics tonight if I have time*

Thanks, all.

I posted some remote options in your other thread.

You have a wonderful size space to work with in regards to your theater. For the amount you'd spend on a quality LCD/Plasma, you could get a very nice PJ set up. I'm a little biased, but I don't think you'd have any regrets going this route. My room is 11 x 21 x 7.75, and I have a 110" wide anamorphic screen that everyone is blown away by. If it is just you and the Mrs. watching movies, a 50" or 60" Kuro would be ideal, but I like to have friends over and shake them around in the theater. In that case, you need a PJ to have enough screen to allow for every seat having a sizable picture. I'm not saying it can't be done with a direct view display, but it does add some complexity to the setup.

Good luck!

Thank you for replying in that thread. It’s given me hope now. I knew there was a way to remedy it, but I was concerned the work involved would be daunting. I had heard of IR repeaters before, had an idea of what they do (kinda self explanatory) but never knew exactly how they were setup.

Lol. Truth. Unfortunately, we don’t have any real theater places around. I’d have to drive to Atlanta (3 hours) probably.

The RP is simple. FP seems to be a bit more complicated. Maybe it’s just that I’m intimidated by something I don’t know. Honestly, that’s probably it. You guys who have done this would probably know exactly what to do but when I’m in that room trying to figure out what I want to do I get overwhelmed with the possibilities and ideas. It takes control of my ADD and runs with it!!!!

I really need to come into this thread with some specific questions, get answers, and DO IT instead of thinking more about it. I tend to overanalyze things and always find that it’s easy once I just do it.

I have a lot more pics, but I'll spare you guys the agony.

These are all the upstairs area. The room I'm focusing on is the HT room. It's about 17x24x8'. This is looking out the 'back' side. This window will be covered.

This is looking into the room. The wall in front is where the screen will be mounted. You can see the A/V rack skeleton to the left side near the hallway opening.
On the backside of the wall I'm facing in this picture is a bathroom. On the other side of the bathroom is another room we'll drywall and 'finish' somewhat. No paint or trimwork, though. That'll be left for whoever buys this house later. That room is about the same size as the HT room. So, we have ~1000ft^2 upstairs. I have pics of all the attic space but don't want to bore anyone.

My neighbor is a bastard. I don't know much about cars, but I know he's got three freaking corvettes!!!
The grey one on the right is a Z06. Not sure about the blue one in the middle. The blue one on the left sounds frickin' awesome! Think my Dad said it was a 66? You guys would know better than me. Pipes are off the sides of the doors. He drives a GMC truck (can be seen in first pic above) as his DD. Those 3 are just his toys.

Backside of the house.

Making progress, boys!! Can't wait!

Great pics! And you say you only have 1000^2 ft upstairs? It looks huge though! I think you're going to have a great setup. I love watching house construction projects. That's probably why I've done two of them and I'm only 32. :D

The 1kft is just a rough guess based on the two rooms upstairs. The bathroom adds to it a bit.

It’s amazing how things like this come along. It’s really cool to see the phases.

Erin, things are coming together quite nicely. Glad to see it. My guess is it will not be much longer and you will be tweaking your ht room. The cats are done. Just hope Billy Gillespie is done too. I suspect Travis Ford or Darrin Horn will be the next KY coach. Either way, KY will be better off. Keep up the good work my friend. ;):);)

Cheers,
