My projector was retail @ $3500. I paid $2200 about a year ago and thought that was a good price. Now they are on sale for $1379.99.

Since I need a back up, I just bought it. Will arrive next Tuesday.
Glad I was of assistance.;)

Tuesday?! Did you subject it to Super Saver shipping? :p Amazon Prime is where it's at. :D Unless it was a third party seller...

You might get lucky, though. Sometimes they get stuff to destinations ahead of schedule around the holidays.
It's actually Amazon prime. But due to Christmas, it will probably be delayed.

I'm not paying the extra $3.99 to get it tomorrow.

Cheap, ain't I?:D

You gotta get your priorities straight. Every dollar saved is extra that can go to nice gear.

well for an amp you could use always grab a cheap sure board off parts-express to hold you over.

Man, I'd love to make fun of you - but I just did the same thing yesterday when I picked a slower but cheaper shipping method (hmmm, about $4 cheaper :)) on something that I bought. :D

Looks like we are all a bunch of cheapskates.:D

One time this guy from Walmart made fun of me because I refused to pay $5 for shipping. He probably owns a nice $200 audio system, so he could afford the $5 shipping that I could not.

I'm not so much cheap as, well, stupid. I'll refuse to pay 85 cents for a candy bar (shouldn't those be 25 cents? :)), but I'll p*** away who knows how much money in my 401k. I guess as long as I focus on the near-term small picture, I'll be okay. Oh, wait...

BTW, GN - any update on the NAD? Are you going to have some holiday cheer next week?

No updates yet.:( However, I have my system back in business. I'll leave it at that.;):)

No comment....well, 29.;)
What did you get, if you're willing to say?

IMO, nothing wrong with it at all. After all, you might find that you really like the product and decide to keep it.

A matter of principles, right?

Amazing how we all think so alike.:D

They don't call us Audioholics for spending $1 on a candy bar or for giving a $20 tip on a $40 meal.

We give credit where credit is due, live by principles, and we don't like to be ripped off even for a dollar!:D

Oh, wait.....that sounds way too sensible and reasonable.

......I think......I'll buy another amp.....There, fixed that.

Btw, the stuff that I got the cheaper shipping for was from a website called cheaperthandirt.com. I was like a moth to a flame.

Update...

...for anyone who cares. The shop was able to narrow down the problem to a certain point, but then needed the service manual to go any further. They requested that from NAD and they didn't receive it until last Friday, the 13th.:rolleyes: So, they know what parts they need and none of it is proprietary. The tech just called to let me know and also told me what the problem was - which I promptly forgot. They have some of the parts on hand, but need to order one more, which they should have in a week, at most. Then I should have it back a couple of days later. The estimate is $150 - $200, for parts and labour. I can stomach that.

And then immediately sell it. Just not here:D
Why would I sell it? I hope this is a 1-off problem and that I get many more years service out of it. If it does fail again, that'll be different...

Good to hear. :) Here's hoping that it will be the last failure in the next 5 to 10 years at which point, it will owe you nothing. :)

Finally!

Just picked it up from the shop yesterday and it works perfectly now.:)

I did have a little bit of trouble re-installing it, at first. As some of you may know, I had this amp routed through a DCX2496 to cross over with my in-ceiling subwoofers. Well, I tested the amp without going through the DCX at first - worked fine. When I re-routed through the DCX, everything went south. I was getting full-range through the subs and sound from only one main. It took me a while to sort it out. I had left the DCX unplugged for the last couple of weeks and I guess it lost its settings. Just great. I remember it taking a while to figure out the setup the first time I installed it.

Well, that was a couple of years ago. And for me, it's not easy to remember to put on underwear every morning. So, it was like I'd never touched a DCX before. I got the manual out and like last time, getting started was a bit confusing. Then I remembered that I'd printed Haoleb's tutorial on setting it up and that it made the job so much easier. Hmmmm, now where'd I leave that?:rolleyes: I'd been trying to do setup through the inputs and couldn't find the right pages or parameters for doing so. Finally found the tutorial and everything clicked. :) Setup is done through the outputs! Why didn't I remember that!? The rest was easy then....

Anyway, I'm back in business and man, did I miss using my system. :) I had a temp for a couple of weeks at first, but the last couple weeks required the laptop and crappy computer speakers. I didn't have it on much...:(
