Exactly my point. Upscaling is NOT the primary focus of these machines, so I have to say it really is a moot point. Saying that your high def player has great upscaling is like saying you could drive a Porsche on 87 octane... You CAN, but why not just go with the real deal?
I hooked up my A2 last night and watched Batman Begins. As expected, it looked as good as I remember when a friend demoed it previously, and it looks pretty much the same as any decent Blu-ray title. I didn't have any problems with this unit at all, it worked fine and the boot time was more or less acceptable. It did stumble a few times losing the picture, but a quick reconnect fixed that. There was a menu to display information about what is playing using "display" on the remote, but as mentioned, it doesn't show you WHICH audio track is playing - it truncates so you don't know if it is True HD Spanish or what until someone speaks. The remote is pretty cheap and the unit doesn't feel all that solid. It doesn't strike me as a $400 piece of gear. The remote that came with my $169 Oppo is better...yes, I only paid $80 for this guy though.
