Does the $25 include box, packaging and shipping it to you?
Not a bad price, except it sucks that the amp failed in the first place, and if you have to pay round trip shipping of the amp, that is a pretty costly warranty repair!

i had my wife order the box today. they told her that not only do i get the box, they pay for shipping it "TO" them !!! why didn't they say this in the first place !?
i am much happier now, WELL worth the $25 !

Isn't that less than what you would have to pay if you had kept your box and packaging and processed the return per their normal instructions?
What's wrong with this picture?

I read this on their site before ordering. It says they can refuse it if it isn't the original stuff. I'm going to be sure to keep mine when the xpa-2 arrives. I usually toss these too.
The $25 seems like a good deal, you're right...

it does say that. seems they have had boneheads sending stuff back packed poorly. but i would say if it was packed well, they would accept it, again, idk.

Yeah, I would assume that's just one of the CYA's you have to do these days or someone will send you a pile of junk in a box and say "well it left my house fine - so you need to send me a shiny new one now".

Kinda like what happened to Costco. They used to accept any return with a receipt - no matter how long ago you purchased it... I actually know of someone that successfully returned a PC that was 8 years old and got the full purchase price in credit a few years ago. Thanks to people like them - now it's 90 days max - no matter what.

Still I have to say that your experience makes me feel really good about doing business with Emotiva - as long as they're providing recourse for customers that lost or were forced due to space to get rid of their packaging to do a return (even if there is a nominal cost involved) that's all that matters. Because considering the size of the boxes my Ultra12's came in - I can't see keeping them around too long. :)

Sure beats calling the cable company about something and talking to either a robot or someone in India - who can only tell you "it will be $100 if someone has to come out there and fix it". :)

i am right on both counts.

i had her call to confirm this, as there was no shipping label in the box.

she was told it would cost ME about $50 to ship it to them.

i knew it was to good to be true. oh-well

What's a blizzard? Does it involve bad weather? :p

I'm excited for you that your amp is all better and on its way home.

I always find it totally insulting that companies claim to back their products 100% yet it costs you $60 (box and shipping) to have them replace something that should not have broken in the first place.

I don't know, it's just a matter of principle to me. You bought the amp, you paid for it and I don't think it's an outlandish idea that you'd expect the equipment to last at least a few years before it breaks. Now you have to pay to have them fix their problem. I just find that absurd.

I feel for you. I wonder if they'll tell you what the issue was with the Amp when they reship it? It's understanding that you have to wait. But, the blizzard....now that just isn't fair. Thanks for the info. You never know, I may have to send my XPA-5 back one day. I kept my box up in the attic. Hope I never need it.

Sounds like you should call EMO, and ask them why you can't just replace the Slow-Blow Fuses -- I think they are 10Amp SB fuses -- then if any of them blows again, then I would send it back. Do you see any charred or black carbon on any of the boards? If so, not a good sign. EMO will help for sure.

100% CORRECT !! That always has pissed me off also, as if the product was burned in at high temps, and tested well for vibs, temp, specs, and assembled with ESD suppression all around it would help in getting AQL Acceptable Quality Levels up into the high 90's, and for the most part this would not occur.
