"The driver's most unique characteristic is that it sounds identical at low and high SPL; the sound does not degrade(become loose, boomy, etc.) at moderate to higher SPLs like the overwhelming majority of drivers."

thats exactly what I want in a subwoofer and thats what true subwoofers should do. Because I am young and inxperienced making a jump to DIY seems overwhelming and it seems like a gamble because I don't know enough to make all the components compatable. I read the whole and longest description I've ever read about a subwoofer...and the SVS pb10-NSD seems to be what I'm looking for. The infinity kappa looks like a good driver they look very well made, what kind of amp are you using on a car subwoofer.
I hope the svs pb10-nsd gives me that unprecedented feeling of satisfying bass that always craved.
The SVS model you suggested is not going to be comparable to the Kappa Perfect project I suggested. But the SVS units do offer great value for commercial projects. The closest performing SVS to the Kappa Perfect project is the SVS PB13ULTRA, which will actually slightly outperform the Kappa Perfect project at 30Hz and higher.

The Kappa Perfect is powered by any 4 Ohm stable amplifier of sufficient power. I use a pro audio amp (Behringer EP2500) on my 10" perfects for my computer sound system. It produces 650 watts RMS x 2 into 4 Ohms. If you were to build the Kappa Perfect project, I would recommend that you use the O Audio 500 Watt BASH amplifier. It is uniquely suited to high power ported applications and is one of the highest quality plate amps available. Ideally, you want 1000 watts more more for the Kappa Perfect sub design. But the O Audio will do for your purposes.

Uh, it might, but I think you are already wanting more...
