I do look from other points of view, and I try to be open minded. Who said my morality was "God" based anyway. You never asked me that. By saying I do not agree with a certain lifestyle or action MY morals are now "God" based?

My biggest problem with the border is this:
These illegal immigrants cross the border into my country, ILLEGALY. They get FREE health care, sometimes welfare and other services I am not even entitled to as a CITIZEN of the country. I cannot get health care like they get. I doubt you could either. I believe in helping other humans as well, but not when they purposely come to suck the benefits of our system. If they really want to become citizens let them go through the system like everyone else.

I think that any illegal aliens should be kicked out asap. The people who collect Welfare should have to earn it, by doing all of the "cheap labor" jobs the illegals used to do. Those people would then learn job skills and could better themselves. The current Welfare system rewards laziness, rather than bettering one's self to get off of Welfare an become a more productive citizen.

If we have to keep them, (illegal aliens) then Mexico should compensate us with one barrel of oil per alien per month for the tax dollars they suck out of the system. That would be about 20,000,000 barrels of oil per month.

My problem with "gay rights" is that they are forcing me to try and like their culture. They are trying to force the government to cater to them specially. Nothing happens to me if a gay person gets married, I do not care. If I get married or wanted to I do not force my heterosexual views on them. If heterosexuals were not allowed to get married I would not try to make the government change the laws. I would just hold my own "commitment ceremony" change my spouse's name or mine and be done with it. I have no problem with homosexuals as people, as a matter of fact I have a couple of friends that are. By no means do I try to make a statement to them I am hetero or tell them they are wrong. I do not agree with it but I do not hold it against them as people.

The Social Security plan may be a bit rash, but what about a comprimise? Have the Dems thought of that? Maybe allow those that would like to invest, invest 25% of their money accumulated. The other 75% would be untouchable. Untouchable by anyone including the government. No more surplus dipping ect.

You soundlike a typical DEM by say let's TAX the crap out of *insert something here*. Taxing is not always the answer. FIX the problem and taxes are not neccessary.

However, I do not expect that to happen, as most politicians, reguardless of what party they belong to, do not really care about the people. They only care about fighting with the next guy, wasting money so they can continue to give themselves raises.

By the way what is your "Golden Rule"?

Golden rule

Do un to others as you would have other do un to you :)

simple.

I agree with a lot you are saying. I agree that sexuallity should not be flaunted or thrown in someones face but I think you are slightly misguided on the topic. The only reason you feel its in you face is because they have to fight for their right. Thus outting it into the spot light. Here in MA you barely hear a peep and everyone minds their business and is allowed to live their lives. You don't have to like anything just ignore it if it does not effect you like you have already stated. Also the line where you say you would be happy with a commitment ceremony. Well unfortuanatly that does not give you visiting rights in the hospital or give you inheritance rights. Also if the situation was reversed YOU may be alright with that but other would seek change and equality for your lackadaisical attitude for equal rights.

One more thing on the Tax the crap out of it statment I made. I said specificly TOBACCO. Which I have no problem seeing expensive. Its a luxury you don't need it to live etc.

We're leaving this thread open but remember to address issues and not the poster when replying - that will keep things tamer and less personal.

I'm not addressing anyone in particular.

I'm neither republican, nor democrat. Both parties have political ideals That I can support. And I won't be happy until married gay wiccan soccer-moms can abort their unwanted fetuses with automatic rifles, and or large caliber handguns while under the influence of legalized marijuana (and an Absynthe chaser to avoid cotton-mouth) in a clean government regulated and funded hospital, who can stop by any 24-hour bank on the way home so they can purchase pornography and/or nazi propaganda from any drive-through liquor store (in their hybrid cars or motorcycles). But they have to pay cash because any electronic instant-payment service would be illegal because the FBI could use it to monitor their movements or spending habits.

Oh yeah, and the FCC mandates all broadcasters adopt and broadcast television programming in the widescreen, high def (1080) format, starting the first monday of the next month, OR be fined a cumulative fee of $150,000/Hour, per affiliate station or network. Also the bill has the rider that showing any program material in a MAR format is also illegal.

Wow, very Ted Kazinski-ish but funny

I believe in common sense morals.

Common sense says that two men or two women together in union cannot procreate. That makes no common sense for them to be together in an intimate relationship. Therefore, I do not think homosexuality is correct. That is just the way I look at it.

A lot of this could all be avoided if we were all treated equally.
Equal means equal.
That means: No race, sex, creed, sexual preference on job/school applications ect., just qualifications and your name and contact numbers;
No census information other than whether or not you are an American citizen, naturalized or nationalized;
No ____-American prefixes, you're either completely American or you're not, people can still follow their Native culture's practices ect., the country is still free.
One can start to get a picture. If people were treated fairly by the government there would be much less hassle with everything. It needs to start at the top and work down.

I also believe in the Golden Rule and follow it as closely as possible. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

I am sorry if any of my comments (now or previous) may have come off as personal attacks, I assure you they are not. :)

I understand that but who cares about procreation when it come to how you treat people. If a man and a women got married and going into the relationship one knew the other to be infertile is that wrong?? they can't procreate.

Anyway I also ment no offense to anyone :) Also if anyone wants to come up to MA I will take you on a tour of the city and show you that everyone is not turning gay and that their are lots of hetero married people whos heads did not explode after everything went down ;)

There there, you're both wrong. The answer is to look north to your Canadian masters...er i mean neighbours. Simply by initiating insanely high salary taxes followed by both a provincial tax (what you would call State tax) and then making up another tax of 8% for no apparent reason it can take a little longer to run your economy into ruin. Another good step is to artificially deflate the value of your own currency in relation to your trading partners. Does this make it a hardship on the middle class, sure but there's lots of them. As for immigration, what the heck, everyone gets in if they can see over the counter. Free drugs and medical care for everyone.

I'm just writing this to give you guys a taste of the fact that everyone has some problems with their respective govt's. My biggest problem is that I get taxed to death. I make the bare minimum to limp into the 35% tax bracket. Add in GST and PST tax on everything I buy (they total %15 for both taxes) and 50% of what I earn is gone before I see a penny. If I took a $700 dollar a year paycut I'd earn $185 more my friend from the same company, making the same salary says. You guys talked about tobacco taxes. Up here it costs somewhere between $8 and $10 for a pack of cigarettes. When I quit smoking about 4 years ago they were $3 a pack or $21 a carton.

That said I feel like I live in the greatest country on earth. And you guys should be thrilled in knowing that you are living right under the greatest nation on the earth, or as I like to say,"Ain't nothin wrong with second place." :p Lighten up everybody, it's Tuesday and the week isn't getting any shorter.

As a conservative I cannot stand what the neo-cons have done to the Republican party. The Republican party now stands for corporate welfare and legeslating morality. Take your pick corporate welfare or welfare for labor. Each party has sold out to their special interests and don't care about America the country.

Unfortunately, history shows upswings in conservativism right before large cultural shifts as the old guard digs in theatened by the younger generations' culture which nearly always overtakes the old.

I agree Tex-Amp

i think this whole thing is going to cause a huge shift to the left because the party in power would not moderate. Like I said I was a registered Con but this admin just does not reflect what my views were. I am far from a tax and spend Dem but I do think Bush's tax cut hurt the country more then it helped.
Taking way personal right because it is against YOUR morals is moraly wrong to me.

I'm not making any personal attacks. But something bothered in these statements. First of all I'm not homosexual (not that there's anything wrong with that), I have procreated, and I voted for Bush (although I consider myself independent - whatever that means).

I don't believe our sole purpose in life is to procreate. Some heterosexual couples cannot procreate and others choose not to procreate. Is their intimate relationship incorrect too? Priests and nuns take vows of celibacy (although some choose to ignore those vows). Are they incorrect? Some homosexual adoptive couples make better parents than many of the heterosexual parents I've come across.

Also, all of the intimate contact that I have with my wife does not lead to procreation (if you know what I mean ;-)). Am I wrong? I guess in Georgia I may be, but we keep the doors locked.

Everybody has been intimate with himself or herself once or twice, right? Some people act like chimpanzees on viagra. Well, I agree that's just wrong, but you get my point, I hope.

I think we have plenty of procreating going on. We don't need to worry about relationships that are formed where procreation isn't possible. That's just my 2 wafer thin pieces of copper and zinc.

And I expect everyone to agree with me!

;-)

mmmmm canadian.

This is why I LOVE being canadian. There is not that much attention put towards us, so even if we did something stupid, like start a second pointless war, no one would know/care.

The biggest news these days is about quebec wanting to separate and the government that was in a deadlock, and the speaker had to cast his vote to break it(first time that ever happened in canadian history) when the liberals tried to(and did) pass the new budget.

Plus, axiom, Energy, Athena, and paradigm are another few reasons, oh and of coarse, Canucks. Damnit i miss the canucks, we need hockey gosh darnit! :D

The people who collect Welfare should have to earn it, by doing all of the "cheap labor" jobs the illegals used to do.
Sure, that might be a solution for, say, California and most of the southern states. But how many illegal Hispanic aliens do you think work in Upstate NY's adirondack mountain region? I haven't met any yet. Sure we have a few illegal Chinese and Korean, But they own their own businesses and pay taxes!

And just which "welfare" people do you think should go to work digging ditches and such? The 65 and up crowd who live off social security & medicaid? maybe the guy working 40+ hours a week for minumum wage who still can't afford to pay $750/month for his one bedroom apartment and feed his family. Maybe the guy who paralyzed from the neck down living in a governemnt funded home?

Maybe you just don't like cheap construction laborers. Oh wait, they all make $20/hour and are usally college educated. And pay some of the highest private insurance rates of anyone (except for doctors).

I'm sorrry, but kicking out the illegals won't magically solve all of societies problems. It probably won't even be feasible. In 20 years there would be 2 occupations left in the country: Border guard, and elderly people living on Social security from 65 to 100.

In the next 25 years we will see upto a quarter of the population become "elderly". And at todays rates of assisted living, medicaid, and the large number of people who will need extensive medical care (Kindey dialysis, heart replacements, et cetera) which adds tens of thousands of dollars every month (for the rest of their lives!).....

Well, Our society will change, or it will implode on its own Healthcare costs.
