I'm sure many of you in here, well all of you probably know that you have to experiment with your subs so this is mainly meant for the own Lookers needing advice I guess,, LOL ...
don't be afraid to move your subs around the room!!
I started off with mine in the 10 and 4 oclock listening position - opposite corners.. I wanted a more symmetrical look around my TV ( and I've noticed in a lot of people's pictures that they have both of their subs up front ) so I moved the back sub to the front, one on each side of the TV about 3 foot away from it and I set the r55tis on top of the subs. Looks awesome. After I got everything neatnd up I ran audyssey , put the subs back to the level that they were and I have to admit I was a little disappointed. When I started walking around the room I could tell the bass notes were not as heavily concentrated as I like. I had to give the subs an extra 6 DB to get them close to back where they were.
Now I am noticing I don't really have that exaggerated hundred Hertz moan that I had before that I have been slowly working out. Maybe this is the way they're supposed to sound (??). I still have good deep bass but i have had to give them more volume, ( keep in mind that both of them are now turned about one-third of their volume level up on the back of the subs ) and I'm not having to cross the sub that was in the back a little more now to get rid of the exaggerated hundred Hertz level.
Now I kind of feel like that I really do need to cross everything at 80 or 100 just to send a little more information to the subs.
Like I said above I love the symmetrical look around the TV . . now I hope I don't have the fronts to high now as the main speakers are about two foot above my listening area now. Maybe I should angle them down a touch? Anyway room Acoustics are everything and I learned a lot about bass travel in doing this.

How about some pictures? I'd like to see what you're working with.

The best performance for movies is one sub along to the TV all about 5' from the side wall and the other one nearfield behind the primary seating...the punch is heard AND felt...I liked that.

But...for music, even after running Audyssey the sub on the TV wall was too isolated...moving the near field sub back up to the TV wall (the subs flank the TV) took care of that problem...the bass has much better balance/blend with the mains.

Maybe I'll add a 3rd sub to get the near field punch I like again, but some time down the road.
