A broken leg isn’t bad given the video of the fall looked really terrible. Being in a hospital in northern Italy isn’t the worst thing either.

Haraldo, you forgot to list the Apollo missions [emoji16] Astronauts launched on top of millions of gallons of highly unstable fuel and rode 250,000 miles to the moon in a contraption where the walls were so thin in places to poke through with a screwdriver.

Point is, risk is part of the game when the stakes are high. And Vonn didn’t risk anyone but herself by skiing.

Didn't see a video only a couple of still shots. Looked like she got whipped, entangled two polls close. And at the speed she must have been come down, it is not just a swipe by a pole, and she also got screwed up in her skies from that impact.

I saw a clip that Vonn was too close to the gate ...... her right arm getting entangled into the gate, immediately pushing her into an unrecoverable rotation.... just crazy bad luck, could possibly have happened to anyone doing that downhill race

So when people say it is reckless because of her ACL problems .... I reckon they have absolutely zero idea what they are talking about !!!!

I guess there are some members in here that know better than the Lindsey Vonn team, so maybe to contact the team and provide some learning experience to the world class team !

In a link my ma shared it stated the emergency surgery for compartment syndrome saved Vonn from potential amputation. Complex tibia fracture, fibular head fracture, tibial plateau fracture, and a broken right ankle were the injuries.

Alpine skiing is risky, and everyone knows this..... Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde almost died after a monster fall in January 2024 in Wengen; blood poisoning as a result of the injuries .... and he is back in the tracks now ....

The downhill "Die Streif" in Kitzbühel, Austra, is starting so steep that it feels like a free fall, and in mausefalle = "mouse trap", it gets steeper and the first turns feels like you are thrown into a tumbler dryer, and then when it is dead scary steep, you come to "steilhang". which translates to "steep slope"
