Microsoft Announces Standalone 250GB HDDs

The good news is they're making the big HDDs available. The bad news is you still have to use Microsoft's HDDs for storage.
"Make More Room for Entertainment" Microsoft states in an advertisement that appeared on the Xbox 360 dashboard this morning, standalone 250GB hard drives, formerly available exclusively in premium console bundles, are now for sale.
According to the product listing on Amazon.com, the 250GB HDD will be available on March 28 for $129.99, complete with data transfer kit to make upgrades from 20, 60, and 120GB HDDs a breeze.
Last week, we learned Microsoft will introduce USB storage to the 360 sometime this spring. However, the good news was dampened by the fine print: there will be a 32GB cap on USB storage. And with news today Microsoft will be introducing 250GB HDDs to retail, it doesn't appear the company will be further loosening its lock on storage any time soon.
