That got your attention, but I'm not going to describe the details of my basest urges, thank goodness! Just want to tell y'all about a kick-a** two CD set I just got called "The Chicago Principal"
It's a compilation of Chicago Symphony recordings featuring their first-chair wind and brass players (some of the best in the world!) in concertos. The French horn is my favorite instrument and this has the good'uns: Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the English tenor Robert Tear (the reason I bought it to begin with), the Mozart 3rd horn concerto and the real rouser, the Schumann Konzertstuck for Four Horns and Orchestra, with the whole Chicago horn section blazing away! It's horn heaven!
Other great stuff, too: Haydn's Trumpet Concerto, Vaughan William's Tuba Concerto (amazing!) and oboe and basson concertos by Mozart.
If this sounds like your cup of tea, get this set! It's on BMG/Deutche Grammophon, #B0000025-02
