Side note there is a POT in the cross over that I turned, and to my dissmay the tweeter stopped working. *sigh*
If this doesn't say it, I don't know what does. Reading this highly supports the problem is at the speaker, not the receiver.
By the way, in regard to white van speakers; they don't typically have crossovers, they may have a capacitor or resistor somewhere, but they are often very cheap and build up resistance the more power they have coursing through them because they are undersized for the job and may eventually fail completely which is likely to cause problems for your amplifier or receiver.
