True, but fat people are NOT healthy !
Not 100% true, I have a friend who has a beer belly but rides a bike up a pretty challenging mountain every day, but I am with you there since this is generally correct.

I guess I don't see it? There is a LOT more to health than your appearance. Let's see a scan of their brains. The one who hasn't had worms wandering around in there would be my choice.
Makes me think of bringing your car to a mechanic whose car runs like shitt and wondering why he can’t fix yours. Lol
American’s health is horrible. People are overweight as hell, we have autoimmune diseases like never before, our food has so much crap in it, it’s not even funny, etc, etc. Other countries have made illegal, tons of ingredients that are all over our foods.
I don’t know if rfk is right for the job, but at least I get the feeling he wants to do something about our health. He does have some odd views, but I think it’s been made worse by the media.

You are right though. There is more to health than appearance. It sure can be a good indicator though.

Think it's a matter of cost and regulation to implement this. It's bizarre the rise of the internet etc and sedentary lifestyle isn't mentioned? According to this source, RFK believes.....

- The coronavirus vaccine is the deadliest vaccine ever made
- Vaccines cause autism
- HIV may not be the cause of AIDS
- Covid-19 was ethnically targeted.....
- Chemicals in the drinking water are causing some kids to become gay or transgender

I believe the NY Post, Murdoch's newspaper, is in opposition to RFK.

Plus all of these other picks by Trump appear to have little to no experience for the specific job. Hegseth, Gaetz, Dr. Oz, WWE Linda Hamilton.

Sorry thats Linda McMahon.

Seriously, I have no life.
Yep. Nazi groups marching in Columbus Ohio this weekend. So sad what has happened to this country. :(
It's not the first time in recent history that a local group of those idiots marked- Nazis have marched in Milton, WI and the residents tried to stop them, but well, you know, Freedom Of Speech.

 o_O

But as I commented earlier, Levine , when she was our Health czar here in Pa I thought did a credible job.
And Levine is overweight, so....

I don't know how anyone can go to a public place or watch people on TV and say this country is healthy. Medical stats show this, too- the most common causes of death are all related to diet and level of activity.

I strongly disagree.

Americans' health is fairly good – not the best among developed Western nations, but far from the worst – significantly better than 3rd world nations. Yes, people are overweight. But our leading causes of death are heart disease and cancer with average life expectancy in the 60s and 70s. These are rich men's diseases. In Africa and Asia, people live decades less, and die of hunger, malaria, bacterial & viral diseases, and most of all of contaminated water supplies. They don't survive long enough to develop heart disease or cancer.

Auto-immune diseases only seem to be an exploding new epidemic. They were always there. Only more recently we have developed new methods of identifying and diagnosing them. Newly developed methods of treatment are already emerging.

RFK's ideas are downright medieval. If all of them are implemented, especially the need for widespread vaccinations, our nations health will be driven back into the dark ages. He would destroy America's leading role in medical & scientific research resulting in the end of our world leading position in research of understanding disease causes, their diagnoses, and the development of new drugs to treat them.

Most of this research is sponsored by the US Dept. of HHS. The NIH and NCI spend a lot more money than big (and small) pharmaceutical companies. America is the world's Mecca for scientific & medical research. Other modern western world countries send their best & brightest to study and learn how the USA does it. Most return home to put these lessons into practice. The CDC is the world's leader in active surveillance of newly emerging infectious diseases, especially viruses. Again, other nations want to send their people there to learn. The US FDA may be slow to change it's very conservative approach to drug safety & effectiveness, but it is the gold standard of the world. A standard that drug regulatory agencies in other countries all emulate.

RFK would torch all of this.

Something interesting regarding life expectancy. Seems we’re not doing good at all. In this list, we come in at 48. Being “better than 3rd world nations” doesn’t seem like a very high bar.

While I agree with much of what you say, I don’t totally disagree with rfk. There’s so much noise around everything…

The spread is only a few years though. IMO it is diet and exercise. Countries that have lousy diets have higher mortality. If you look at Asian diets in general, they are pretty well balanced compared to the US. While in Japan, there is a lot of walking and public transportation, so it is easy to get your steps in every day.

Can't ignore the fact that the US infant mortality rate is really bad, considering the fact that our GDP is so much higher than many countries above us. Lots of causes, but pre-natal care is not great in many areas.

Totally agree. Diet and exercise are very important. Asians, as you mentioned tend to eat more balanced foods, and i think portions are more sensible. I mean when you go through the drive thru and they ask if you wanna jumbo size you’re already absurdly large fries and drink, it makes me laugh.(not saying drive thru food is high quality either lol)
And as dude mentioned above, we’re more sedentary than ever with computer jobs and screen time at record highs.

I'd be curious to know what RFKs plan is. Seems like it should be a campaign for whole foods, less internet/phone, and exercise. Spending a lot of time on additives seems a waste when those very additives are in processed and junk foods. Plus we like our McDonalds and crap so making better ingredients for crap I hope I'm exaggerating.

For spending over twice as much as part of GDP compared to other comparable developed countries, USA has a poor health outcome on so many metrics.

Under "Anti-vaccine advocacy and conspiracy theories on public health," there's some oh yeah interesting stuff there. (Environmentalism certainly, but I've yet to see any experience in health.)

I've just started reading this one. I think it has confirmed my suspicions. These health people are talking about ingredients in food. One silly bit said Canada has like only 2 or 3 ingredients in some of their cereals. The next person corrected them with no they have like 17 ingredients just like the US lol. So in other words the very people criticizing the food industry, are industry. If you really wanna make an impact, Kennedy would make visits to Sesame Streets and promote the four food groups and activity. That's it: whole foods, exercise, less phone and internet. Regulating junk food ah yeah ok that's doing a lot. So you replace corn syrup with cane sugar. Friendly reminder too much sugar of any form isn't good LOL. So that will increase the price of junk food. To get them off it? Are they even thinking along those lines??? I dunno.
