Looking for thoughts on this starter system!

What I have on the way is listed below.
-- BenQ HT1075 projector
-- Onkyo TX-NR636 receiver
-- Silver Ticket STR-169120 120" fixed frame screen

I am considering the audio for this setup and so far have this to start with. Any thoughts, changes, or recommendations would be most appreciated. Budget for audio is right around $1000 give or take a few hundred. For what it's worth this will be my first true home theater so definitely a starter system. Making the most with a limited budget that will keep me on the nicer end and sound decent.
-- Pioneer SP-C22 Center Channel
-- 2x Pioneer SP-FS52 Tower speakers
-- 2x Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Bookshelf speakers
-- SVS SB1000 subwoofer

Thanks for the input everyone!

Looks solid to me for the most part. How big is your room in cubic feet?

Sent from my LG-VS980 using Forum Fiend v1.3.1.

Thanks for the input rojo! Basically it is a long basement room at 34"L x 14"W x 7"8H. I will be projecting onto the far east wall and that wall is 10"11W. Rough idea is attached as well.

How far is the main listening position from the front speakers.

@markw - right around the 12" mark.

@zieglj01 - thanks for the recommendation! What about the HSU VTF-2 do you prefer over the SVS? I'm fairly new to the home theater scene so would definitely like to hear your thoughts between even these two sub manufacturers. The HSU looks to be significantly heavier, ported, and also down-firing but seems to be more flexible as well in regards to tuning for your preference. Might be what sets it apart so am for sure interested. Just doing some initial research looks like HSU in general might be regarded as a bit better than SVS but as in all things I'm sure there are fans of each.

Those are nice speakers but I think they might be better in a room where the listening area was somewhat closer to them.

@markw - Was definitely one of my worries. What would your thoughts be on potentially making a switch over to the Wave Crest Audio HVL-1s?

I'm not familiar with that particular speaker but I think a larger driver and/or box would be called for, or multiple drivers. subs are good for what they do (low bass) but if you lean on them to go too high in the range in order to compensate for a main speakers lacking mid bass, then the system winds sounding boomy, or muddy.

How much music vs HT are you listening to.
Your choice of the SB1000 would indicate you want a musical sub rather than one designed for high output or low extension. Is this true?

A good 12" sub tends to be preferred over a good 10 inch sub.
And, I would go with a 12 inch sub due to your room.

Also, the HSU gives you the option to go ported or sealed with
that same sub - to suite your overall bass preference for music
and home theater.

For your budget and that size room, I'd recommend getting two of the Dayton Sub-1500 when they return to stock in May. Two subs ftw!

Also, if you have a laptop or HTPC and you aren't opposed to fiddly gadgets and quite a bit of reading, get yourself a MiniDSP (rev. A), suitable plug-in, and a measurement mic to manage your dual subs.

To be honest, it is probably an 80/20 split of movies/music. So it's sounding more like the HSU is a better fit for me.

May might be a stretch, need most of this put together and in place prior to when these come back in stock. Appreciate the recommendation though, will look into these subs as well for additional research.
