Linn Power amp with Denon receiver

I am powering a pair of Kef Reference One's with a Kef 200C center channel with a Denon AVR-4802/Denon DVD-2900 combo. I have a chance to buy one or two good LINN LK140 Power amps. I have been told by some that it's a no brainer...that the sound will be a great improvement...others say that my Denon has more than enough to power those speakers and the LINN's will not be necessary...please help..any advice would be great...if you don't recommend the LINN's in there something else i should be looking at...maybe a 200W/channel Rotel or even a POA denon? If the LINN is a good choice, should i buy two and bi-amp or bridge????

.....the MSRP on the LK140 is $2600, and that's not many watts at 4 ohms....I guess it all depends on what you could get them for....

......well, that's certainly cheap enough, Natboy, but it only represents about 16% of the list price....that would concern me a little....and two, it's still only 140 watts at 4....if you're going to go to seperate power, do it right the first time, as I learned the hard way but ended up gettin' lucky.....

well the reason for the deal is they are my father-in-laws so he's basically giving them to me (for a great deal). But if you don't think it's enough power, what would you recommend if anything. Should i just stick with what i have?

If you really want external amps, consider the Behringer A500, reviewed elsewhere here. In bridged mode, probably 4 times the power of the Lynn and half the cost at $180 each.
4 ohm speakers can be difficult to drive hard with a receiver.

.....by all means for the sake of the relationship, you should take the amps, Natboy, and it appears your father-in-law is making sure it's worth your while....unless you want to absolutely blow the house down, shiver me' timbers, you should get quite acceptable clean levels.....congrats on the opportunity.....
