I am about to redo my home theater system. My current system is...well very old and time for a major upgrade.

Current system consists of an Onkyo TX-DS575 ( 10 years old), Polk Bookshelves as my mains with a Bose VC-10 as my center channel. I have a Toshiba HD-3A and my TV is a 42" Panny ( 6 years old). Subwoofer is a Velodyne CHT-12 ( 9 years old)

I am currently stationed in South Korea and most places will not ship here, so this is what I am looking to get what is easily availabe to me.

Receiver: Yammy RX-V765
Front mains: Yammy NS-F700
Center Yammy NS-C700
Rears Yammy NS-B700
Sub Yammy NS-SW700
Blue-Ray Panasonic DMP-BD60K
TV will be a Panasonic bigger then 50", just dont know which one yet.

If you have other choices that I should go with please give me your input.

Turns out that I cant get the Yamaha V765 after all, but I can get the Denon 3310CI instead. Would this be a good receiver to go with?

The speakers, I have noticed that Axiom can ship to where I am with no problem. What does everyone think about these speakers?

The Axiom are quite nice speakers. Some of them are listed as 4 ohm but that Denon should be able to handle them nicely. Given the difficulty in sourcing products there, it's a pretty good combination. Actually, it's a pretty good combination in any circumstances. Go with it and enjoy.

I would second the Denon choice. I thought my Denon was heads above the Yamaha 663 that I owned.... I haven't heard the Axioms but they are well thought of online-as a speaker and a company. Hurrah for upgrading your system. And thanks for serving.

Then the Denon it will be.

Thanks for the compliment of serving. Been doing it for 15 years and there is nothing that I would rather do.

Axiom's are a Excellent Choice

Hi: I have the Axiom M-60's as mains, VP-150 as a center channel and will get the QS-8's when $$$ allows me too. I'm very happy with the clarity, bass response is excellent, imaging is very good also!!!. Over all I would say the Axioms are a bargain they compete with the Paradigm studio's and more than hold their own IMO. Good luck and stay safe and thanks for serving!:)

About a year ago I was a guest at an L.A. Audio Society get together where Axiom demoed their speaker line. They really did sound impressive. For whatever it's worth they were using Outlaw Amps for power. You shouldn't be disappointed at all with their speakers. But I guess you have 30 days to test them and the shipping is free. Also make sure you tell them you're going to be using the Denon to power them and get their advice if that's good enough. Those people are way cool answering questions so give them a call now.

I'd also like to point out that you're lucky to be serving in Korea. They have some beautiful women there..lol..

While it never hurts to ask I assure you that Denon receivers have no problem driving any Axiom speakers. It is easily the most recommended/popular brand at the Axiom forums. Presently I’m using a 2807 110w/ch to drive 3 x M80s and 4 x QS8s in a 21 x 13 x 10 living room which opens into the dining room and kitchen with and average speakers distance of about 8 feet. I don’t get any clipping/distortion until somewhere between 100-105 dB which since my system is calibrated at 80 dB gives me at least 20 dB of headroom for peaks.

If you do choose Axiom don’t hesitate to order from the factory outlet and save 10% if the finish you want is available there. Most FO speakers (all 10 of mine) are in perfect condition. Those who have received true b-stock speakers have reported only very minor blemishes but this is the exception not the rule.

I’ve always preferred Okinawa and the Philippines
