Laptop Speakers Ideas?

I'm a freshman in college living in a dorm, and i'm starting to miss bass. I have extremely limited desk space, and no room for a subwoofer. Any ideas on some compact speakers that would fit on my crappy college desk and deliver decent sound from music and games? I'd prefer to spend under 50$ if possible, but could go as high as 80$ if it's really worth it.

Logitech X-230. Small subwoofer, small sats, great sound for the price. Go audition some.

I put the little subwoofer on the floor under the desk. I doesn't need to take up any desk space at all.

Klipsch Pro Media Ultra 2.0 or Creative Gigaworks T20 are both sub $100. I got the Gigaworks T20 for $80.

Seems odd that his first post is on a Home Audio forum, for computer speakers.

Perhaps invest in a good set of headphones. These fall within in your budget, and sound great. You can use a convolution filter (PM me) to get them to sound great in an application like foobar2000, though they sound good without it too. EQ can do a decent enough of job of fixing the somewhat elevated treble. The identical 7506 is a staple in recording studios for its accuracy and durability. It comes with a 1/4" adapter and a carrying bag.

I'd been looking for headphones separately actually, for other uses.
