I just bought the Series Sub-10 from BB for $199 and is fantastic for the money and my needs. I have wood floors, and the downward firing sub shakes everything in my condo. I only have the gain 1/4 the way up so as not to piss off the neighbors :).

I suggest you take a serious look at an HSU STF-3, now on sale for $479 + $53 shipping. This will perform better than the Klipsch RW-12d. If you prefer to stick with Klipsch, go with the 12d. If so, try to get the best discount you can.

I am roughly about a month away from purchasing 1 or 2 subs...does hsu have a good reputation for subs ? if so should I buy 2 of these ? or go with a higher line ? by the way my budget is about 800-1000 but no more

HSU and SVS are very reputable sub manufacturers. They sell direct, so are not well known by most people. Two of the STF-3s will run $1064 (holiday sale w/shipping). This is probably the best stereo-sub option available for the price that will provide good visceral impact.

For slightly less expense/impact, two STF-2s will also perform well for a stereo setup. Now if you went with a 2-sub mono setup, The SVS PB10-NSD may be the best price option.

Now for a single sub setup, the HSU VTF-3HO and SVS PB12-NSD/2 or PB12-Plus will give you great performance and visceral impact. Be warned though, these are BEASTLY subs.
