way to hack that up joe:cool: The comment was not "these are not audiophile speakers". And the rest of your contribution...... If one needs dsp, one DOES NOT need different speakers.;)
Thank you, I try.;)
The only speakers that sound good in my book are those that sound good in "direct mode", without any equalization or even basic tone controls. Certainly, any speaker that needs to be physically modified to sound good is a POS.

I understand what you are trying to say, but room response cured by dsp does not make speaker system bad. Im not for doing mods on manufactured speakers, but as chris has shown in the past, small mods to some speakers can vastly improve their proformance and increase their value. Other than poor master recordings that need to be remastered or correction applied, I also do not beleive in applying basic tone control to my sources, room response is different.

Klipsch are very bright speakers, however the source is extremely important here. I would suggest using a tube integrated amp, many can be had for $500 new and up. Because the Klipsch line are so efficient most any tube amp will have more than enough power. Second option wouldbe to use a tube out CD player such as a Jolida or an Ah! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 and thirdly perhaps a tube buffer would help tame those highs.

Good luck!

My god ,how does every thread on this site end up the same way, with guys tearing another hobbiests gear to shreds & basicly telling him his stuff is a pos:rolleyes:.

The guy asked for help in taming the brightness of his speakers, some in this thread have offered not one single bit of advice other than to tell him his stuff sucks.

Yeah i know, truth in audio & all that jazz:rolleyes:,in my book when a persons only contribution is to tear apart another mans system & offer not one single bit of advice to help him with his situation its a pretty sad thing.

That Klipsche can not ever sound hi-fidelity(by the literal definition). It has technical limitations that contradict the known credible perceptual research in regards to such. You should sell this device(fortunately for you, the speaker is till widely sought out by people who don't care about true hi-fidelity/realisitic reproduction; so selling for a good price should be easy) and replace it with a speaker that is more capable of hi-fidelity sound reproduction.

You are obviously a smart man & know boat loads about audio but i am at a total loss for how this post helped the OP one single bit with his situation.

Have you guys forgot that this hobby is supposed to be fun for all,put yourself in others shoe's for once before you post,it has to suck, people come here looking for help & they run into sharks, not one shred of advice offered except to slam this mans gear.

This site has lost much.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Although I did tell the OP to try out a tube amp instead of the Adcom to tell him to just get rid of the speakers because they are not "high fidelity" is just plain wrong.

It's funny too because I have heard most of the Klipsch Heritage speakers hooked up to what must have been the right gear and they sounded nothing short of amazing.

Me also , i really like the Klipsch Heritage line since i was young , there great sounding speakers . I agree with the Adcom match , i would start there . I have never heard Adcom and Klipsch matched up and there mustbe a reason for that . I have heard alot of NAD and Klipsch .

I owned a pair of La Scala's for 18 years . I ran them with carver ss equipment. I would suggest you go to the Klipsch forum and ask a few questions. I'm sure some members over there will be glad to help you out.

i have la scalas downstairs, and martin logans upstairs.i had mcintosh ss power amp with la scalas.have enjoyed the powerful sound for years.upstairs i had low powered amp with martin logan and the sound was too fat wooly bass.then i bit the bullet and decided to remove the mcintosh amp.i experimented with a low powered solid state amp. the sound became sweet and smooth, and also powerful and exciting without killing my ears. i expect the mcintosh will make a perfect match upstairs with the martin logans
