Wow, I'm surprised by the reviews here. This has a ton of lfe I found, even Kongs deep breaths shook the place. Although I agree the T-rex fight was not impressive (and WAY over done) the rest, especially the stampede, has killer lfe happening. IMHO.

I watched it last night and there is plenty of house shaking bass, especially in the scenes where the ship is bouncing off the rocks and the kong roars.

very good dvd

The stampede killed it for me, that was the most ridiculous overdone bunch of unbelievable crap I've ever seen, even if I could believe in all the rest I could never for a moment suspend disbelief and get into the action enough to forgive such a silly childish scene, that’s where I turned it off. So far Peter Jackson has ruined every movie he’s touched with these kind of overdone scenes, I cant believe I even bothered with this after I saw how he butchered the LOR trilogy.

The sound was well done, but the action scenes were a big king kong size pile of steaming monkey poo.

just my opinion.

The stampede was like a little short comdey film. I was waiting to see Bugs Bunny run by... When I saw those things piling up like that, I actually started laughing because it was so ridiculous.

To answer the questions: Yes, Peter Jackson has said there will be an extended edition of King Kong (hopefully with DTS-ES).

More importantly, he's going to be producing the Halo movie!!!!! Directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy & Blade 2)

Master Chief kicking Covenant butt on the big screen :D

Agreed! Anyone that says the LOTR series was butchered needs to make his own attempt at doing it. Now that would be truly ridiculous!!!

and funny......well actually I'd probably turn it off before I got through it.:p

I totally agree!

The whole LOTR series was one of the best films ever. I own all of the extended versions and the added content was quite good, not just fluff.

Granted, I did a rainy day (hurricane  ) LOTR extended edition marathon and it took all day, but where else was I going to go?

Peter Jackson did a great job with that epic story. I would love for him to work on the Hobbit.

While I feel the movies were very well done, I have to agree with kingdaddy on this one, they left a lot to be desired in terms of telling the same story the books told (some significant moments were outright changed). That is to be expected though, when making feature films and I do think the movies convey enough of the story to do justice overall to the trilogy. The Extended Editions are far better than the theatrical releases because some of the scenes include additional key elements.

I was ragging on the action scenes and the content therein, the story of Kong and LOTR was pretty good as well as the acting, but the action and plot peaks and valleys were horrendous, and IMO, that is solely the fault of one Peter (over glorified) Jackson.

How many climaxes, tearful reunions and last stand prewar speeches were in LOTR ROTK? How many times did Froto and Sam look like they were going to kiss, hug or cry. I mean, they broke every rule in the filmmaking book and still came home with all the Oscars, it was disgusting. I could have really got into Kong if they would reduce or completely eliminate the ridiculous CGI scenes, models seem much better to convey depth and realism, the CGI looks 2-diminsional on the big screen and ruins the effect of putting me in a suspended disbelief mode, and my pointing and laughing out loud probably ruins it for others as well. Somebody on Peters staff should have laughed out loud during the first screening to show him how many would react to such a silly take on dinosaur behavioral habits and movements, I’ll bet some paleontologists spit milk out their noses during that scene.

Well I seen it at SiverCity here in Canada only, so all the CG effects glorified on the ridiculously huge screen, just suck me into Kong vortex. I'm going to be watching it in my HT tonight, though.:)

Anyway, I liked the LOTR trilogy - best trilogy ever IMHO.

I have to agree. I love the LOTR series. I've yet to do all three of the extended sets back to back (I've got a one year old). But I can each one in in a single sitting, that's good enough for me.

Alot of Tolkien purists don't like his vision. I love the Tolkien books as well. To me Jackson just gives us another retelling. He did a pretty good job of taking a set of stories that were unapproachable to alot of people and distilling it to film. Not to mention doing all three at the same time. I just wish the Tolkien estate would give up the rights to the Hobbit. I drool about seeing Smaug on the big screen.

Funny, I think it's TNT or FX or one of those channels has been running commercials lately for the LOTR series and they play love songs and show Frodo and Sam in a kind of Brokeback Mountain kind of way. It's pretty hilarious.

LOL, when I saw the last one in the theater, I was thinking "If they kiss, I'm leaving..."

o m g... this movie was such a borefesh... sure parts of it I enjoyed, but I really was disapointed in Jack Black, as well as the directing of Peter Jackson. Unless I see a deal of under 9.99 for this DVD I doubt I'll ever pick it up... even at $9.99 I doubt I would want to sit through that movie again.

I'd get more enjoyment on watching U-571 a few more times (picked up used for like $6.99)

I don't think it will come out on DTS. Lord of the Rings didn't.
