Ok, I just got the surround set up, I am looking for some bluRay movies to show off the system a bit. My kids are 7 & 11 what are your recommendations?

Good call on the Golden Compass... the books are really good too.Harry Potter #1
Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe
The Golden Compass
Star Wars Ep. I (?)
Chronicles and Golden Compass are both known for excessive DNR, and so I've never watched them. I believe it when someone says they are good for surround set up, as the thread title is asking, but to "show off the system a bit", I might look elsewhere. Then again, I'm into the video portion quite a bit when it comes to movies.Harry Potter #1

We were just waiting on you.Really guys? Nobody recommended Kung Fu Panda. This is at the top of the list for reference BD for both PQ and SQ.![]()
Man I couldn't log on yesterday....see what happens when I'm gone? Sheesh. We were just waiting on you.![]()
I was just really trying to come up with some real life stuff that 7-11 year olds might find fun to watch. At that young age, I think they're more visually focused than audio perhaps with the exception of good bass.Chronicles and Golden Compass are both known for excessive DNR, and so I've never watched them. I own Snow White and Pinocchio and they do both look and sound great, but you can only go so far with this type of animation. They already have that 3D look thanks to the multiplane filming. They are still classics no matter what.Don't forget Ratatouille and Wall-E from the Pixar library. Wall-E will blow your socks off as a reference disc.
Disney has also put out Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Pinocchio on BD. I only own Snow White and haven't cracked the plastic yet, but supposedly the transfers are gorgeous.

Over the hedge would also be a good one. I personnally thught Kung Fu Panda was a terrible movie (story line anyway) I fell a sleep during it.
Then what did you like so far for the kids?I liked the PQ & SQ of Wall-E, but, felt the story line just wasn't there.
Are Chronicles of Narnia and The Golden Compass a good watch for adults too or are they cheesey?Harry Potter #1
