Are Chronicles of Narnia and The Golden Compass a good watch for adults too or are they cheesey?

I thoroughly enjoyed Chronicles of Narnia (the first one - haven't seen the second one).

The Golden Compass left me wanting.

GC may be a little cheesey, the ending left me expecting a sequel. CoN-LWW was well done and suits people of all ages. Prince Caspian is a little darker for more mature audience, 12+.
