Kid Proofing Speakers

I have a pair of Monitor Audio Radius 270 floor standing speakers. Each driver in the speaker has its own metal grill that presses into a groove around the circumference of the driver.

About two years ago, my then two year old, took the grills off the shiny tweeters and pushed the tweeters in. I can purchase new tweeters for $100 a piece. I think my now 4 year old is old enough not to mess with them but just in case, is there any reason I should not affix those grills in place with some kind of glue?

I would put the grill back on - a 4 year old can get curious again - he must
be tall to be able to reach the tweeters from the age of 2 - How was he
able to reach them?:)

Is there not some type of little pressure adhesive dots around the tweeter,
so that you can push the grill back in? Something was holding it in place.

The speakers are not that tall.

Regardless, there is no pressure adhesive. They are small round grills that fit into a groove around each driver. They are held in place by friction in the groove (picture below). They just press in place. Without adhesive they come out fairly easily. I was really just wondering whether using glue of some sort would be problematic and if not, what type. The other option is to wait until the kid is older.

Without first hand seeing the grills and speakers it's hard to say. However, a couple of dabs of clear RTV Silicone adhesive could do the trick. It won't permanently hold the grill on and you could just rub it completely off at some later time if you decide to take the grills off.

OK then - as stated, I would use about 3 or 4 small dabs of silicone to
hold the grill in place - 1 small dab to the top, bottom, left and right.

The well-known rubber ducky tweak. Some audiophiles insist it sounds better than the Lego tweak.
