And BO YAY! Just got mine from my local dealer! This is a big step for me. When I first started building my theater I made concessions to be able to afford everything. One of which was skimping a bit on the pj and getting better speakers. Well that was then and this is now when I can afford to finally retire my trusty Optoma HD70 (it was the first 720p to break $1,500.00) And oh my my my. The rs45 is huge. I could put at least 4 of my Optoma's in it.

I will not be able to demo this long because in my house we are firm believers in not getting your gifts before Christmas. But being this was so expensive a quick check to verify that it is not DOA is definitely in order ;)

So for anyone wondering the 2D picture is simply stunning. Even my wife said she thought it was insane to pay so much for a new pj but after seeing the first 10 mins of Transformers she was blown away. Finally confessing that it was worth every dime.

So after a hour of viewing I can say that:
1 I am very pleased
2. The image is crisp and clean
3. Black is superb, Colors are vivid and pop. (out of box, no calibration, Film 1)
My expectations have been exceeded. I am happy with my purchase.

Cheers!

Screen Shots

Alright guys here are a few pictures I took. The only thing I have done to the photos is cropping. I am no photographer and the pix do not do the image justice. Enjoy

How much did you end up paying for it locally? I'm trying to figure out what a fair price is to offer the projector for to others should they ask.

I installed the RS50 last year and it was the best looking projector out of the box which I have ever seen.

Looks good, I'm tempted for the new RS55 but we shall see. I don't need the 3D, but the 4K feature seems very nice. I may jump on something next yr. I still have my RS10 in my theater and have yet to make a move on anything.

Edit: Congrats on your purchase.

If you can swing the 55 go for it! I feel the same way about 3D. The 4K however has me very interested. Hopefully someone near me will grab one so I can take a peak.

RS10 is a fantastic pj. I drooled over those when they first cam out. I don't think you would regret the jump to RS55 but it was more than I could spend. I'm just happy to be in the JVC club. :D
