Jamie was in a decade long drug induced coma ...

We were going to break it to him a little more gently ... you brute. :D

Actually he had me wondering where that ten years went.
... I'm still a little fuzzy on the details.

Ok JK....

He was a great inspiration and artist that contributed so much for the entire world.....

I'll only say there was one drawback, he gave us Yoko Ono... :(

We watched Across the Universe over the weekend. Not a bad flick. I think John might have liked it. I was watching Imagine on Monday too, because it was on.

RIP John.

On a more serious note do any of you recall ABC's MNF breaking the news regarding his murder...I believe Howard Cosell who was friends with John broke the news on the telecast that night minutes after the shooting. I'm a huge football fan but I don't recall those events, the game was between New England and Miami on Dec 8, 1980 but I learned of the very sad news the next morning.

Yes, my radio station wklh was replaying the discussion between Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford "un-aired to the public" whether or not they should announce this news over the air, and Cosell was against going live with it during the game, while Gifford stated unequivocally it should be done....

Cosells reply was basically to me was - ok fine - I'll try to fit it in... it really sounded like the news of John Lennon's death had no place on air during his broadcast and when he finally did announce it his tone and demeanor were completely different...

You could hardly hear them talking about this, as it wasn't live.... but it was interesting to listen too..

Here is a link I found to that sound byte....

Actual off air is at just before 8:00m, although the whole video is worth watching.

Cosell was hesitant because of their friendship. I can't seem to make the clip work but from what I understood from hearing that news this morning mentioned Cosell was shaken but Gifford convinced him of the magnitude of this event and it should supersede any football game. Nowadays we go live with everything....:).
