Yes, my radio station wklh was replaying the discussion between Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford "un-aired to the public" whether or not they should announce this news over the air, and Cosell was against going live with it during the game, while Gifford stated unequivocally it should be done....
Cosells reply was basically to me was - ok fine - I'll try to fit it in... it really sounded like the news of John Lennon's death had no place on air during his broadcast and when he finally did announce it his tone and demeanor were completely different...
You could hardly hear them talking about this, as it wasn't live.... but it was interesting to listen too..
