JBL flip 3 v Bose Soundlink mini speaker power?

I'm looking at getting a portable bluetooth speaker I can use around the house, out in the garden and also in the bathroom. I've come across the JBL flip 3 which appears to be an improvement on the JBL flip 2 (which already has great reviews) including being splashproof so be good with the bathrooms humidity.

My question is, what is the difference between the output power in Watts? As the JBL speaker has 16 W (8 W + 8 W) but compared to something like the Bose soundlink mini which has 50 W. Although the JBL speaker has the same amount of speakers and is just as loud as the Bose?

Not sure what you’re trying to find out. You ask what the difference is in the output power of the two speakers is in watts, and then you give us the answer (16 vs. 50), and then tell us the JBL plays as loud as the Bose...?

I guess what I'm asking is there really a difference between them in that regard. By ear they both sound the same but how can one appear to have significantly more wattage and not be significantly better?

Not sure where you’re getting these numbers, I can’t find anything on them. Regardless, wattage ratings for self-contained systems like these isn’t terribly relevant. For instance, if the speakers used internally are inefficient, it will require more power to get the same volume as another system using efficient speakers. In addition, products like these don’t conform to the FTC power-rating guidelines, so basically a manufacture can claim anything.

Which one is better? Easy. JBL is unequivocally better than Bose 100% of the time.

I have a flip 2- works great and lots less $ than the Bose..
Also, it's not a Bose

I found the JBL output power on the curry's website and the Bose output after a quick google.

Thanks everyone, bit annoying there's no curry's near me (currently on offer) and you can't return once opened but I'll take the risk and hope for the best!!

So the JBL flip 3 arrived. Tested it against my mates bose soundlink mini and if I'm honest the bose blows it out the water for clarity at medium/high volumes and better bass overall.

I mean it's okay for what I paid £70 (Just under half of the bose cost)
